    Battlefield 4? No thanks EA

    • Furious Francis

Yeah, I didn't make this list. I just saw it. Most Wii U owners don't even want half the junk on here.

  • BC20FLY

    The Wii U doesn't need a sfxtk.

    • Furious Francis

      • RicardJulianti

The Wii U doesn't need most of these things really. Sure some of them would be cool, and a few should happen (Bayo 1 on the eShop, KH3, GTAV); but all of those late ports, HD remakes (though that Majora's Mask would be amazing), VC changes, and EA games need to stay away really.

And Skype…..really people? That's just dense. As I posted above, the Wii U could very well be getting it's own cross-platform chat thing, without paying a jacked up royalty to MS.

Quick question too, why does the site cut the views of articles down after a while? I've noticed it before but thought I was hallucinating….I was having fun watching my article views :-/

Edit: Nintendo released their financial report. Operating loss of $366 million (36.6bn Yen), more than their projection but less than last year…so improvement. Ordinary income of 10bn yen, net income of 7bn yen, so it's not like the company as a whole would be in trouble by the loss…..let's see how Pachter spins it though. Also, Nintendo's stock is apparently up 10% in Japan….

In bigger news, Iwata will be taking over (likely on an interim basis) Tatsumi Kimishima's job as President and CEO of NOA, so Reggie will report directly to him. Hopefully this means the US will get more 3DS colors and it will help with localization, possibly meaning global releases like they are doing with Pokemon.

I'll let you read up on the info. Iwata: Financials and misc:

        • Furious Francis

Michael Pachter made and signed the Skype on Wii U petition 500 times, LOL!

  • Furious Francis

Most of these are pointless, but I thought I would put them up

  • koopzilla

Personally I would like them to put out the DS version of Super Mario 64 on Wii U VC. All the extras were cool, but the lack of analog kind of ruined it. I know you can play it in a 3DS, which helps, but it's still configured for an 8 direction d-pad. Actually I'm not sure if Luigi was even in that version or not, I remember Yoshi and Wario were in it.

That reminds me, I want the GBA version of Super Mario Bros. 3 on Wii U VC, with all the e-reader levels, including all the ones Japan got that we didn't. Those extra levels were a lot of fun. There were also some cool cards that let you use power ups from other games, like the cape from SMW, and one that put turnips in the ground you could lift up and throw like SMB2. SMB3 is my favorite game of all time, and that is my favorite version due to all the extra e-reader stuff, it's just a pain to actually get out the e-reader and swipe the cards and stuff.

Interesting that Earthbound is on there as new, when it was announced last week. I would like to get Bayonetta 1 since I plan on getting the second one, and never played the first. South Park is one I want too, didn't Ubisoft buy that, that means there is hope since they have been one of the biggest supporters the Wii U. And personally I would rather have Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 HD or something than 3 Ultimate. MvC 2 is one of my favorite fighters of all time, and 3 didn't look nearly as good. I kept my Dreamcast just so I could still play that game (glad I did, I thought about selling it at one point since I had almost all the games I had on it for Gamecube). Also, I think I read that they were interested in putting Ni No Kuni on 3DS a while back, I'd get that.

I couldn't give a crap less about Call of Duty, but they shouldn't ever have to be petitioned to put out the DLC when every other system got it, theres no excuse for that.

Region Unlock would be cool, but that's a lost cause.

    • Titan64

Oh now I think they should put the DS version of 64 and the Gameboy version of Super Mario Bros. 3 on the VC once they get the VC rolling, which I still don't get why people thought the launch line up was bad when the original VC didn't have much either. That and we are getting Earthbound people hello…GTA 5 could be coming, which rainbows will be shat and tears will be shed. Bayonetta 1 would probably come out if the Sequel sells good. The rest of these I really don't care for, especially LOL Skype.

      • koopzilla

According to Michael Pachter Skype will win the next console war. lol.

Yeah, pretty much what I expected out of the launch lineup. Just as long as they put out the VC games at a faster rate than the 3DS or Wii VC I will be very happy.

        • Titan64

Oh yeah Skype, when the Wii U chat is just as good I guess lol. Thats what I am hoping for the Wii U VC. They will probably take a little longer to do unless people don't really care for Off TV play but at the same time, its not a deal breaker for me.

          • RicardJulianti

It's funny that people think Skype would ever come to the Wii U….I mean, Microsoft owns it so Nintendo would have to pay royalties to them. Nintendo doesn't pay royalties to have Dolby Digital or DVD playback, so they aren't going to pay royalties to one of their competitors.

I in no way think that the Wii U needs DVD playback or even dolby digital….the uncompressed LPCM audio is quite nice since I have a sound system that supports HDMI pass-through. Keeps the console a bit cheaper as well.

There was some leaked document from Vidyo talking about mobile device support too…..

        • RicardJulianti

What's funny is that with the new (and stupid imo) Pizza Hut app Pachter said, "It's not at all important, I can do it with my cell phone, don't see how it makes things easier to do so through the Xbox. Sounds really lame, with extremely limited market potential."

Sounds a lot like Skype…does it not? haha

          • koopzilla

LOL, this is the first I've heard about the Pizza Hut app. I've ordered pizza online before only because of specials that are online only, and it's just so much easier and more convenient to call them and order it.

Honestly, I have never understood the need for a game system to have DVD playback. I'd say nearly 100% of people who can afford a new game system have a DVD player. I wouldn't ever want to wear out my disk drive playing movies. If that goes out you are out $300, when if it goes out on your DVD player you are only out like $40. You always hear people complain about that though, makes no sense to me. Not to mention the royalties have to be paid for each device that plays DVDs, which add to the cost of each system.

          • RicardJulianti

Yeah, I hate ordering pizza over the phone….I can feel them judging me. But saying "Xbox, PIZZA" is just ridiculous. They are REALLY pushing to be the #1 device for the living room/home… never have to move again!

I agree with that, but I will say that I have a PS3 mostly for the blu-ray….which is awesome. With all of the streaming stuff available now, DVD playback has become niche in a way….which is crazy to me.

    • RicardJulianti

I think that Ni No Kuni was released on the DS first actually, just in Japan and under a slightly different name. I'd say it is worth a play on PS3, but if you're looking for something along the lines of Tales of Symphonia, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon….you should just play those instead. It's a good game, but for me it was extremely easy, had some weird things going on with the music (songs in a game like that should NEVER end and then repeat for instance…make it loop) and it was all a bit predictable. I still have fun playing it though.

I am fully behind getting Bayonetta on the eShop. I played the game a bit when it was released, but never really got into it. With the sequel coming out, I would like the chance to play it again, especially with off TV play. I guess I COULD rent it for the PS3/360….but neither of those are my preferred method of play anymore. Considering SEGA didn't even want to fund the sequel, it might be up to Nintendo to get this one worked out.

      • koopzilla

I didn't realize Ni No Kuni was on DS in Japan. I heard they were thinking of porting it to 3DS. I have heard pretty great things about it so I wouldn't mind checking it out. Yeah, I agree, I don't like when songs in games have a clear beginning and ending instead of looping.

        • RicardJulianti

For an RPG, it is pretty much inexcusable in my book. It's really not that hard…the music even has clear points that would be perfect to loop from….but nope. I think it would actually be really cool on the 3DS, that art style would work really well I think.

Personally, I find most of these petitions to be…pointless (XD) Some of what is being asked for just seems picky. Also, I feel these petitions can not be trusted to show an accurate representation of the consumers wants because the data can easily be manipulated. And from what happened with Operation Rainfall I think Nintendo had the same feelings since the releases for the games were very limited. And that petition was for games that were already on the Wii, but only released in Japan. I think it was a reasonable petition because it was already on the system. That being said I can agree with some of these like the Call of Duty DLC, the games that are still in development. Ni No Kuni (but for the DS), etc. But the sequels, ports of games already out and some of the remakes…not so much.

  • wooferz

To be honest, I don't think any of these will be successful.
