Borderlands 2’s Tiny Tina Accused of Being Racist? Gearbox Responds

Borderlands 2 has been out for several months now, but it seems people might have just realized that Tiny Tina dialog might be a little racially insensitive. This has resulted in one massive Twitter jam. Check it out below.

PC Gamer reports that it all started with this:

That’s Mike Stacco, creative developer at Cryptozoic Entertainment tweeting to Borderlands 2 lead writer, Anthony Burch, creator of Tiny Tina. Stacco’s tweet kicked off a backlash from fans, who chipped in their own two cents on Tina’s dialogue:

Even Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford got involved:

This is all a bit crazy, I played Borderlands 2 and she didn’t come off as racist at all. Copy the dialect of Urban talk is not racist.

    Tiny Tina isn't racist, period. Just watched a whole bunch of YouTube footage on it. Where is the racism? Imitating a style of speech isn't racist unless you're mocking it or the people who use it as well.
