According to relyonhorror.com, Capcom responded to the mixed reviews in an interview. The scores that they received ranged from the lowest being a 3/10 from Destructoid and the highest being a 9/10. Capcom stated that they were trying to bring new life into the Resident Evil franchise by making it more of a modern game, with fluent mechanics, and at the same time keeping its core-elements. Capcom also states that they want the fans to judge it from what it is (an innovative Resident Evil game) and not compared to the older Resident Evil games.
