Square Enix has revealed a bunch of new details on the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn. The biggest news is that players won’t have to purchase a PS Plus subscription to play the game online. Players will only need to purchase a subscription from Square Enix.

Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn runs in 30FPS on the PS4. The director, Naoki Yoshida, said that the team decided to focus on the number of characters on screen, instead of maintaining 60FPS. Yoshida added that 60FPS isn’t a big advantage for a MMORPG. Full details and information here.

Square Enix today announced that the opening of beta tests on the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn from Saturday the 22nd of February 2014 and a free service that will allow players to switch from playing the game on the PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation 4

Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be released this Summer on the PC and PS3. The Closed beta testing for the PS3 version will start in June. Expect new content, areas, and weapons in the Realm Reborn.
Final Fantasy XIV looks like crap, but will still carry paid subscriptions, despite many successful MMO’s going free to play or one time fees like Guild Wars 2. The director Naoki Toshida claims that subscription fees didn’t hurt Star Wars the Old Republic or the Secret World.

Final Fantasy XIV’s original release was disasterous, and Square Enix knows it. Company CEO Yoichi Wada apologized for the game back in 2010 and Square Enix immediatly began work on Final Fantasy XIV a Realm Reborn, which is supposed to fix all the issues with the original game.
Final Fantasy 14 will offer PvP versus the Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada, and will battle against other players in Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.
