PE freelance writer Diego Arias has penned an interesting article discussing Nintendo and third-party support. See the full article below.
One of the big issues that has been debated on a multitude of times with the Wii U, is Nintendo excluding online play. While there have been other issues such as the lack of online features, the biggest problem was Nintendo’s games outright lacking online multiplayer (remember the Super Mario 3D World fiasco). However, with the release of Mario Kart 8, and today’s confirmation of Hyrule Warriors having online play, four of Nintendo’s big first party titles in 2014 have online play, FREE of charge for Wii U owners.
I downloaded the Destiny Beta yesterday and played through a couple of hours of the campaign. I also started up Mario & Luigi Dream Team on the Nintendo 3DS. And while the Destiny beta is great for what its worth…..I found Mario & Luigi’s Dream Team far more addicting, despite having inferior graphics, gameplay modes, and features.
Bandai Namco…..Bamco….Bammi, we need to talk. If you haven’t heard the news, Project Cars on Wii U is delayed. This is despite the massive hype surrounding the Wii U version, and no competition from games in the same genre. Meanwhile the Xbox One, PC, and PS4 versions will be released this November against: The Crew, Forza Horizon 2, and DriveClub. It’s pretty obviously the Wii U version of the game will suffer bad sales now and why is Bamco so excited the Wii U version is delayed?
Thumbsticks has penned and interesting opinion article on Nintendo’s online ventures through the years. Read the article here, then come back to PE to discuss.
I remember when Bayonetta 2 was first shown off at E3 2013. Many users were saying the game barely looks better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 Bayonetta, and how the Wii U version’s graphics were not impressive. But now that Bayonetta 2 is nearing completion and screenshots have emerged showing off Bayonetta 1 and 2 side by side. It’s clear that Nintendo’s machine packs plenty of power to deliver visuals that surpass last generation by a good amount.
I got a chance to go hands on with LittleBigPlanet 3 at E3 2014 this week. And while it’s not a bad game by any means, it felt a little uninspired, and the graphics were a bit lackluster from what we’ve seen Sony do on the PS4 up till this point. When I asked the Sony reps about the PS3 version of LBP 3, he paused, then said ‘we’re not talking about that version, we’re really just focusing on the PS4.’ With some of the game delays, Sony’s reluctance to talk about the PS3 version of LBP 3, and the overall lacking graphics, something tells me LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS4 is a port of the PS3 version. But the game is not finished, and I don’t know that for sure. It could turn up looking a lot better in the final version. And please don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on LBP 3. I think it will be fun for those who like the previous games, but I just feel the game is hiding something. I’ll have my full preview with footage up on LittleBigPlanet 3 in the coming weeks.
I don’t know about you guys, but I find it really strange that websites that usually report the Media Create sales charts…….mysteriously skipped this week for some reason. I understand it’s just Video Games, but I’m Shocked that sites that have plenty to say on the Media Create on some weeks, decided to take this week off…… I wonder why?

My last video caused quite the buzz on Kingdom Hearts III potentially coming to Wii U. I wanted to explain myself further why I feel Kingdom Hearts III is a good fit for Wii U, and why Nintendo fans have proven they deserve the opportunity to play KH3 on the system of their preference. After the whole Watch Dogs debacle from Kotaku. Stephen Totilo, editor in chief of Kotaku said “Anonymous sources are, I believe, an essential part of reporting.” As an editor myself, I feel this is completely BS, as what Mr. Totilo forgot to mention to his loyal readers is ‘anonymous sources’ are a way for Kotaku to gain more revenue by beating other news outlets to the punch. Fate of the game has written a nice article discussing the practice of journalism, and how Kotaku is breaking many rules for their own selfish gain. There is so much technical jargon in this post it made my head spin. But there is a guy who actually thinks the Wii U is stronger than the PS4 and Xbox One, and he ‘appears’ to be doing a good job of explaining why. Read the full post here. Or you can get the cliff notes version below.
Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata, has admitted he misread the market. He also said that he needs to a better job of tracking Western trends. Change is coming to Nintendo, Iwata said it himself. But what change is coming? Here are my ideas of what I think, Nintendo will do to remedy Wii U and 3DS sales.

GenGAME has penned a fantastic article discussing why profitability matters more than sheer units sold. Get a snippet of the article here.
Super Mario 3D World’s opening week sales were absolutely destroyed by the media. Unfair comparisons, proclamations of being outsold with missing information, and just flat-out sensational titled articles, infested the internet for weeks regarding Super Mario 3D World’s sales. But as the dust settled, and the Wii U sold more units, Super Mario 3D World is proving to be an “evergreen” title. While Lighting Returns and Knack sales have fallen off a cliff.
Microsoft has announced that they are “committed” to releasing the Xbox One in Japan, in 2014. While Microsoft might be committed to doing this, the Japanese consumers are not committed to buying Microsoft’s consoles.
It’s pretty clear at this point that a lot of Microsoft and Sony fans want Nintendo to go third-party. Even Jason Rubin, the former CEO of THQ said he wants Nintendo to go software only. I was going to write article why Nintendo won’t go third-party anytime soon, but that type of article has been beaten to death. So I figured I can write an article on the games that drive Microsoft and Sony fans to say Nintendo should go third-party. Here are the top five upcoming games I could think of.
