Crytek Might buy the Darksiders Franchise

Crytek initially didn’t put a bid on the Darksiders IP back at THQ’s auction. But it seems like the owners have had a change of heart. As Crytek is now looking to purchase the Zelda inspired series.

Many of Vigil’s former staff members are now part of Crytek USA. The boss of Vigil was a man by the name of David Adams. Adams is now the current boss of Crytek USA, and he had this tweet to share with his followers.

“Going to bid on Darksiders IP. Put 7 years of heart and soul into that franchise, and i think it belongs at home with its creators.”

Former Vigil staffer, and current Crytek USA employee added to that saying, “When the Darksiders IP goes up for auction, Crytek will be bidding for it. Not much more to say since the rest is left up to courts and legal shenanigans, but we’re all excited at the prospect.”

It would be a feel good story if Crytek USA was able to get their IP back. Darksiders 3 would be a welcomed addition to my library for next gen.

Oh great….Crytek…so they can drill their graphics > gameplay mentality into a promising series and completely ruin it
Come on Nintendo, Platinum Games, heck anyone but EA, outbid these guys!

No, you got it wrong. Crytek USA is former members of Vigil. If they get the franchise, chances are it will still retain it\’s gameplay. I doubt those guys would sell their soul.

I sincerely hope you're right dude, but the way the company has been going at the moment…I have my doubts. Them acquiring the series would probably also mean kissing goodbye to any hopes that the next Darksiders would appear on a Nintendo platform…if EA are the publishers at least. I'm not exactly sure about the nature of the relationship between Crytek and EA. I believe they have used other, more Nintendo-friendly publishers in the past though

I'm a big fan of the Darksiders series. I've always liked of the whole horsemen of the apocalypse fiction. So it was cool to see it come to life in video game form.

It would be great to see the franchise come back to the people who deserve it, and worked hard to bring it to life. Now heres the bad part. Doesn't EA publish Crytek's games? If this is so, we'll need a miracle to see Darksiders 3 on the Wii U. We've already seen how they shafted Crytek with Crisis.

It's safe to say most of EA's games will not be on the Wii U. And while I don't play a lot of EA games anymore, I am worried about Mass Effect 4 not coming to WIi U. There is so many cool things you can do with the gamepad, it would be a shame for EA to let their pride get in the way of releasing a really cool Wii U version.

Luckily I did some research. EA only publishes Crytek's Crysis series. Crytek also uses publishers like Ubisoft. So hopefully if a Darksiders 3 comes to fruition. Crytek will ask Ubisoft, or someone other than EA to publish the game.
