Okay let me put this into perspective… DOA is a fighting based game that had elements of sex appeal that has been around for a good while but up until now no one gave a single flying fuck despite the following it had garnered in the competitive world and now the SJW have clocked it as wrong to depict female fantasy characters whom do not actually exist outside of virtual space bar cosplayers as over sexed meaning that we no longer have the right to play a game people have looked forward to due to a minority of people kicking up a whirlwind of feminist bullshit despite them not actually being real and/or it being a fighting game…

Now Feminists before you attack my comment here is what I say to you in the e-sports world do you know how many games there are with sexual content that is actually censored so that it give a fair advantage because that is what DOA tournaments do they do not allow certain costumes to be used because they affect the player

doubfult. From what I hear, the infamous “breast physics” has been in place since DoA2, which came out in 1998. DoA 5 came out in 2013 and still kept the same themes intact

probably. this is the 9th game in the franchise, and the 4th game in this spin-off series of beach stuff (there was a psp version ot this, minus the volleyball). This isn’t some niche series no one has heard of: it’s up there in the FGC with the like of Street Fighter, Tekken, and MvC. And if a 4th spinoff is coming out, then there are obviosuly enough interest to keep it going.

I know I wouldn’t have, and I still don’t. That being said, it’s actually not impossible for me to imagine a situation where I would’ve run into it at a friend’s house or picked it up myself someway, somehow on a whim. Hell, I can safely say I would’ve picked this up before a number of other “top-tier, AAA” games I have no care for. And I can also imagine not being horrified by the “oppression” and “misogyny”, falling to pieces the moment the game boots up. Rather, I imagine having fun with it, for what it is — a bouncy, over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek party game that garnishes any given game library.

Of course they wanted to avoid controversy, but the whole point is that THERE SHOULDN’T BE ANY FUCKING CONTROVERSY. No one is having this game forced down their throat, or being told that they’re not allowed to be turned off by the highly sexualized depictions DoA is known for. But what the more discerning of us are saying is that playing or enjoying this game does not profoundly alter how you view, treat or regard women. Don’t like it, don’t buy it. Feel free to criticize it, even. But in this environment, I wouldn’t expect many of those criticisms to be anything other than highly overblown garbage dredged up by soulless, twitter-addicted hipster losers. The trumped up charges of sexism are BS, and so is the notion that this game and its ilk should be censored or effaced from the medium.

And all this rank, rampant assholery definitely has implications for me, irrespective of exactly what happens with this game. I may not be big on DoA, but I am definitely someone who enjoys Koei Tecmo games. And I can’t blame them at all for feeling the way they do: remember the Fatal Frame situation? Whenever content — costumes, character models, environmental design, etc. — has to be altered for localization, that’s a process usually undertaken by the original devs. So if they weren’t already aware of all this shit going on, they know it well enough from having been forced to edit Fatal Frame for the first time ever. And I don’t want to see them forced to change or completely fucking DROP games I actually care about quite a bit. On the principle, what’s going on right here, is very bad. And the threat of how this might get even more out of hand? That’s worse.

Yes. Now I have to preorder the Asian version that (thankfully) has English subtitles. It’s inconvenient (more expensive, I will need to register a PSN account for a different region and get corresponding PSN cards if I want DLC to work).

What? Why? Like it or not, jiggly bags of flesh and fat are going to have physics applied to them when they are in motion. It’s annoying that these physics, apparently, justify dislike whereas things like cloth and fluid physics cause people to spontaneously high five each other. And there wouldn’t have been any had they not chosen to bend to the will of a minority that doesn’t even play video games in the first place. I hate to employ a slippery slope, but it’s been in the works over the past few years; Clothing options changed or removed in western releases of games like Bravely Default and Xenoblade Chronicles X, cutscenes being altered or cut in examples such as Fire Emblem Awakening, this vocal Puritanical minority successfully mounting campaigns to have games pulled from sale a la GTAV and almost Hatred, and now we’re at outright withholding or indefinite deferment of a release due to these people.

Yeah, it looks fun to play casually once in a while, but not the kind of thing I would buy. That’s not the problem. Right now, it’s happening to a game I don’t care that much, but who knows what will happen later. I fear for the games that are about to come. If their intolerance keep growing, more games are going to suffer from this, maybe even the games I want to play. That’s why it needs to stop ASAP. Its funny business move. The people complaining are not the ones buying your product and putting money in your pocket. The moaning and complaining by non-customers publicizes your product amongst real potential customers. Other companies I can see them not wanting jeopardize other products sales or damage their overall public image. Not sure if Koei Tecmo would have this issue though.

Rockstar games use this tactic to promote their games. There will be some controversy in the months before the games release about something violent/sexual. (Which I believe they more often they never actually have genuine intent to include in the game.) This gets picked up by non-gaming media and they instantly get millions and millions of free advertising in mainstream media. Minor coverage by mainstream media is worth way more than major coverage by gaming ‘media’.

      While I think the games are shit, at least this game is consensual and portrays girls having fun at a resort and doing sports. Might as well ban female porn. Which, of course, there are some SJWs that want to do that as well… The objectification thing is pretty subjective. Portraying females in a suggestive manner does not suggest that that’s all they’re good for and that their personalities mean less. I think people read into fiction a bit too deep like that. It’s just an attempt to sell games to people that want to get off. But I also know that there are girls that like this game, and for a different reason. And guess what, gay porn puts emphasis on male physique and sex appeal, too. And gay guys have to deal with what they consider “shallowness”, but, gay fiction still runs strong. Yet, even if there were nothing of high sexual portrayal, there’d still be users and rapists. If anything, fiction can be used as a sexual outlet instead of people seeking gratification from women who are not just out for casual sex. And when it comes to porn, the actresses are often doing it out of their own volition, making money off of it, yet, SJWs wouldn’t blame them for assisting in the objectification of women, because then that’d be slut shaming. Not that I think porn actresses or strippers are worth less; if they aren’t directly imposing on others, then they’re free to do as they will… same as these game developers.
