Destiny Heading to the Xbox 360 and PS3 and to “Future-gen tech”, no PC Version

Destiny is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 and next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony in the future, but the PC is not getting a version of Bungie’s newest IP. Bungie has given the excuse of “nobody” uses a keyboard and mouse any more to justify their decision.

IGN has reported that there will be no cross play between the Xbox 360 and PS3 version for obvious reasons, and will probably be released next year at some point. Activision and Bungie has stated that Destiny is a “console shooter” and Bungie’s Jason Jones informed Destructoid that the developer has already made the mouse and keyboard players obsolete.

“We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people. We limited players to two weapons, we gave them recharging health, we automatically saved and restored the game – almost heretical things to first-person shooters at the time,” he said.

“We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to.”

Ummm…. PC hands will not be happy with those statements, other than the fact he’s dead wrong.

Activsion is has described Destiny as a “shared world shooter”. The game has persistent worlds and sandbox elements, almost like a MMO. There will be no subscription fee and the game will support solo play, the MMO features do require a always-on internet connection. Destiny will be taking players to all sorts of planets like Mars, the moon and other locations in the solar system.

There are three classes to chose from: Long-range Hunter, Mage, and a Titan. There is no matchmaking or UI.

Check out the official description on the Bungie forums:
