Devil May Cry interview: Capcom “had a lot to prove” with the new DMC

Apparently fans are warming up to the new Dante in Devil May Cry according to Capcom. In a Devil May Cry Interview with VG247, USA producer Alex Jones  the widespread  the New Dante received from many loyal fans but had this to say:

“Yeah, now it’s fine, but I could have done without having to fear for my life [laughs]. There was always going to be people who saw new Dante and who didn’t want it, and that’s fine. We understand – I understand – that people are passionate about it, so this isn’t a bad thing.”

After hands on time with DMC many journalist and game reviews agree the New Dante fits the story and atmosphere Ninja Theory has created. I personally spoke to a super fan of the DMC series and he isn’t happy at all and claims he will never even play the game solely based on the appearance of Dante.  While this is one fans opinion its hard for me to believe many fans don’t share the same thoughts. Alex also had this to share.

“Being angry about it – yeah I get that – but we always said, ‘when you see the game and you play it, trust me, you’re going to understand that we were doing the right thing’. Now that’s happening, so yeah it’s vindication, but it’s not like smugly sitting back and going ‘ha ha’.

It’s more like, ‘We understand why you guys had doubts, and we knew that we had to prove this to you, and we were happy to do it.’ That was our responsibility.”

I really was coo with the Dante. The fans reactions reminded me when Nintendo showed the new Link in Zelda. But when people got their hands on the game they realized that the graphics fit the story and theme of the game. I’m not sure if DMC will achieve the same success Windwaker had but im super excited to play the game for myself.
