EA is a Complete joke of a Company

As most of you guys might have heard by now, EA has stated Madden 25 will not be hitting the Wii U this year. Which, I have no problem with. EA and Nintendo have a strained business relationship over the whole Origin on Wii U thing. But it’s what they said next that pissed me off.

“We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future.”

EA has a strong partnership with Nintendo? Really? You do EA? If your partnership is so strong, why isn’t the Frostbite 3 Engine on Wii U? Why isn’t Battlefield 4 on Wii U? Why didn’t Crysis 3 launch on Wii U? Where is the official confirmation of FIFA for Wii U? Where is Tiger Woods for Wii U? Why did Madden 13 not have the Infinity Engine on Wii U? Where are EA games for the Wii U or 3DS eShop?

Yeah….crickets EA, crickets.

EA and EA Sports are a bunch of lying, despicable, douchebags, that I hope gets THQ’d this generation. I really hate EA. It’s one thing to not release your games on a system. But it’s another thing to blatently lie about a situation, when everybody knows the truth. Is EA trying to insult Nintendo fans intelligence? Seriously EA, GTFO……GTFO.

By and large, I’m not interested in most of EA’s franchises. I always maintain that EA should’ve been the one to go out of business instead of THQ. Their business practices are despicable. They’re liars and they generally don’t care what they do as long as it makes them money.

EA can go rot as far as I’m concerned.

  2. gearchin says:

EA has been a joke for a long time now, the debacle that was shutting down awesome studios i.e WESTWOOD, to trying to buyout competion(see gta4 and 2k), trying to monopolize the 3rd party market in trying to buyout UBISOFT(gta4and2k aswell), man EA is just goign down the drain and it's ABOUT TIME. DRM out the ass for their games(simcity, singleplayergamesi.e KOA) man this industry would be so much better without EA.

  3. Intel says:

They just lied in their statement. Unbelieveable. What other services could that gaming franchise serve on Nintendo?

  4. Frank Urbanski says:

Could've predicted as much. EA announces ME trilogy for the other consoles before ME3 for Wii U is released, then ME3 doesn't sell enough and they blame the Wii U. They put out an inferior version of Madden (a franchise whose sales have been steadily decreasing for the last 5 years, I think), and it doesn't sell and they blame the Wii U. They put out an admittedly superior version of NFS, but it was 5 months late and they released it when Monster Hunter came out. Then they blame the Wii U.

EA's games don't sell on Wii U because:

1.) Yes, the Wii U's install base isn't very big, but they're not going to take that into consideration when the PS4 and 720 launch are they?

2.) EA is cannibalizing THEIR OWN GAMES or just being plain stupid. Mass Effect 3 didn't sell because of Mass Effect Trilogy. Madden '13 didn't sell because of the other versions of Madden '13. Then they're stupid enough to think NFS can stand up to MH.

There are issues with the Wii U that are Nintendo's fault. That can't be denied. But this is not one of them. The blame for this falls squarely on EA's shoulders. And on top of that they keep canceling other games like Crysis and now this. EA has done NOTHING to deserve support from Wii U owners.

  5. Ogya says:

It's okay if you don't want our money EA especially if this is how you treat your "strong" partners.

  6. timg57867 says:

Sorry guys, but if you think Nintendo fans aren't dumb enough to fall for this then you're mistaken. Just been to nintendolife….there are "intelligent" types there trying to justify EA's actions by saying that it makes sense as it wouldn't break even. I joined Nintendolife because I thought the community would be cool, but now I am starting to have regrets…

    • Titan64 says:

To hell with Nintendolife. And its not surprising because they put out an article stating Nintendo needs to beg EA to come make games for the Wii U a couple of weeks ago. After that, I left Nintendolife for good. The repetitive articles about Nintendo being doomed and saying they fucked up, the troll bait articles such as the "prediction" about how mobile and tablets will run out console gaming, and just the mean spirited community really boiled over for me.

      • timg57867 says:

YOU SAID IT! There are good people there, but they get drowned out by all the pessimists. And I really have to question some of the "fans" credibility. They are faithless, arrogant, defend idiots, fail to see what's happening to the whole industry, and the writers do Talking Points that can be misguided. You even have *ssholes criticizing some of the games. Making sure not to be a Nintendo Defense Force fanboy is one thing, the extent that they defend Sony and Microsoft and criticize Nintendo is ridiculous. That horrible Peach64 definitely takes the cake in my books. I swear, if something doesn't change soon. I am ditching that site, or at least only commenting on articles unrelated to the Wii U's prospects. Seriously, sites with TRUE Nintendo fans like this are becoming a rare breed. I'd actually want to invite people here, but I'd rather have a small community of level headed people then a crowded one fool of bitches…

        • Titan64 says:

I actually got into it with Peach64. He is so full of it. I am not saying you must not criticize Nintendo but what I am saying is stop preaching bullshit and being pessimistic about it. But unfortunately on that site, "criticizing" is good while being optimistic gets you hate. I mean, one of the "reviews", I think it was the injustice review, they gave it an 8 out 10. Now the score doesn't matter but its how they blatantly ignored the biggest problem with the game, not being able to make matches.

Whatever the case, that site is no longer on my radar anymore. I think TonyRende gave a proper term to people like Peach64: Pretendos.

          • RicardJulianti says:

I've gotten into it with Peach64 as well…..all I said was that I wonder if EA had anything to do with Criterion not making another NFS game. Seems like a valid question considering they had just said that they will be making all NFS games release at the same time on Wii U……and then go…"Hey, you know how we only really make racing games? Yeah, we're not doing that for a while"

He said that "people need to lay off the conspiracy theories. EA don't hate the Wii U, they just know nothing on it is going to sell well enough to make a profit until at least the end of the year."

When I responded, talking about how they actively pulled support and cannibalized sales, completely flipped on their opinion of the Wii U in less than a year (BEFORE the game drought happened even.) He shut his mouth right up. Not a word from him.

I only go over to NintendoLife to promote my articles now, haha.

        • Intel says:

” I’d actually want to invite people here, but I’d rather have a small community of level headed people then a crowded one fool of bitches…” – Timg57867 truer words were never spoken than this my fellow gamer.

    • MrSilver says:

NintendoLife has to be one of the worst Nintendo Fan Site communities out there. Hey I'd even venture to say the MyNintendoNews has a better community because at least its obvious to tell those guys are just trolling. Like seriously I'd venture to say that NintendoLife is close to sites like Kotaku, and IGN. I had considered joining at one point, but after reading the comments for awhile, and seeing the caliber of article the site starting throwing up just to get hits. I decided against it.

Life's average user/moderator tend to be self absorbed overly sensitive "intellectuals" who are constantly "burdened" with the task of carrying their own cross of opinions. If anything, it is an interesting site to visit just to bask in the entertainment of hypocrisy. Not to mention the big brother "politically correct" bullshit that goes on there is hilarious.

      • RicardJulianti says:

WiiUdaily takes the cake on being the worst "fan site" out there. It's absolutely absurd. I think the community might be a little better though…I've only commented a few times though so idk really. Whoever writes the articles is terrible….never even bothering to update articles once the bull he spews is proven false.

The only times I have commented was to call him out.

        • Titan64 says:

I think the only Nintendo sites, that I at least know of, that are actually good ones are NintendoEnthusiast who actually have good articles like the GTA 5 and the Nintendo Strategy article. Although the community is okay (The GTA 5 article has people bitching about no analog triggers to drive in gta on the gamepad and pro controller, even though GTA doesnt need them and I find analog triggers to be horrible for games) and this one. Wii U daily, I took one look and left. Life is just terrible in all regards. The articles are troll bait, the community is horrible, and their reviews are sometimes so nit picky.

  7. MrSilver says:

I've never been a fan of any of EA's franchises, but that "We have a strong partnership with Nintendo" is a real knee slapper. I mean we could possibly have Crytek's best franchise Far Cry under the support of Ubisoft.

    • RicardJulianti says:

FarCry 3 was WAY better than anything EA has produced in a long time. If I wasn't already positive that Mass Effect movie was going to be utter crap (you don't take a personal story like Mass Effect, throw out all of the personal choice, and make a high action movie based on "how you want it to go") I wouldn't see it because EA would get royalties.

If that movie is still in production, I hope EA keeps pumping money into it and it bombs. Nothing like a failed movie to be your swan song.

      • MrSilver says:

Yeah EA gets Crysis, but Ubisoft gets Far Cry. Ubisoft, and Far Cry are better so its a win win for everyone.

I played Blood Dragon at a friends house yesterday. I couldn't stop, the whole over the top 80's action movie thing is just so amazingly fun.

  8. Titan64 says:

And I find it sad that people said Nintendo needs EA if they want 3rd Party Support and say Nintendo is losing third party support left and right. As Ricard said, there is 2 (Technically 3), developers not support the Wii U. EA (which stands for Egotistical Asshats), Deep Silver (more like Deep shit if you as me), and Epic (more like Epic Fail har har) with unreal 4. And you know what, good riddance.

  9. Matthew Wesley says:

The hate is strong in this one… Let's call this what it is; EA's mad because Nintendo didn't want origin as their game delivery platform, who could blame them when origin couldn't handle the server load when people were downloading Sim City earlier this year. Ultimately however, this hurts EA far mor than it hurts Nintendo and the wii u owners. Let's just state the obvious, most nintendo owners have multiple consoles, so EA is only hurting themselves, they are so stupid.

    • timg57867 says:

I am sure there are plenty of Nintendo fans with only Nintendo consoles (like me). But anyone who fits in this category probably hates the trash that third parties are shoveling out these days (me included again). So your point remains intact.

  10. darkgamer001 says:

What we need is an open letter to EA outlining why they're on course to win America's Worst Company for the third time in a row at this rate.Given their recent actions, such a letter would be huge but these points for such a letter definitely come to mind:

    – Calling them out on their rehashed sports franchises

    – Challenging them to stop beating about the bush and admit that Sim City's lack of offline mode is DRM.

    – Outlining how they butchered franchises such as Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Dead Space.

    – Challenging them to either flat out deny or admit that they clashed with Nintendo over Origin on the Wii U, and inviting them to apologize to Nintendo fans for insulting their intelligence time and time again….but particularly for lying on the E3 showfloor, of all places.

Of course, it would be important to end such a letter by outlining the fact that if EA continues to bury its head in the sand in regards to these and other issues, the consequences will be more severe than just 'winning' the Worst Company Award…their financials are already speaking for themselves

    • RicardJulianti says:

I thought about writing something like that….but I don't care that much about EA or what happens to them.

I could easily point out all of the stuff you listed and more…..but it wouldn't be sincere. I feel like it should come from someone that has been a fan of EA for a long time, has bought Madden every year/often, bought Sim City and dealt with that whole mess, etc but has gotten tired of all their bullshit and is genuinely worried for the company and what would happen to them if they kept the same practices. I don't give a rat's ass if EA goes under and in a way, I am doing everything I can to ensure it. I haven't bought an EA game since ME3, but have only started actively boycotting them recently. They will not get a dime out of me.

Considering Peter Moore's response to the "Worst Company" thing, which basically called everyone who voted for them Madden Fanboys and homophobes (I am neither and still voted for them), they would shrug off any sort of letter as I am sure they have gotten plenty of them. This quote bothers me the most, "The tallest trees catch the most wind. At EA we remain proud and unbowed." That says to me, "We catch a lot of criticism, but we won't let that change how we do things." the amount of PR spin when talking about things is incredible. "45 million Origin users beg to differ [that it is a viable competitor to steam]" okay, but how many of them are actually satisfied? How many of them bought an EA game once, were forced into creating an account, and have since never used Origin or any of it's features?

They don't deserve a heartfelt letter explaining the plights of being a loyal EA customer. They need to learn from their actions and they won't do that by getting criticism of any kind. It will take something more.

  11. timg57867 says:

Words cannot properly comprehend such an atrocious statement…

  12. sergio111293 says:

Wow, I'm very tired right now, but I'll say this: EA, Please. This is a humble request. Just stop. Stop with all the Bullshit & just admit that you're butthurt about the Origin deal. Every intelligent gamer knows that you will not be supporting Nintendo this gen(And possibly future gens). Hell, i'm pretty sure Nintendo knows this as well & it would make my day if Nintendo flat out called you out on all your bullshit & said they would not be conducting business with you any longer.

You are the most Hated Videogame Publisher for a reason. You screw over your consumers with ridiculus practices such as DRM & pull sleazy tricks on companies like Sega & Nintendo when they don't comply with your Outrageous demands.

Unhook the leash you have on all of your misfortuned Developers & just disappear. The gaming industry would be a much better place without your influence.

And it pains me even more that you hold the rights to one of my favorite unique gems of this generation: Mirror's Edge.
I pray to God that when you inevitably go down, That wonderful IP doesn't go down with you.

So yeah, in conclusion, Ea stop, drop everything you're doing, get up, and Get Out of the Industry.

    • koopzilla says:

I would love to see Nintendo just call them out on their crap. I have seen some people saying Nintendo need to pay them large sums of money to get them on board with the Wii U. Screw that! I don't want Nintendo to give them a single penny. When your kid throws a tantrum because they want a toy, you don't say okay, I'll buy you two toys if you quit, it's not productive, and shows them they just need to throw a fit to get what they want. Just let EA keep digging themselves a hole to die in, they seem to be speeding up that process instead of doing something to stop it. I say the industry is better off without them. I wouldn't worry too much about the franchises, they will probably be sold of like THQ's. Personally the only one I would care about is Sim City, and I would love to see someone come in and save that series after the damage EA did with the new one. I've never played Mirrors Edge, so I don't know about that, SSX was a pretty fun game, other than that I can't think of anything else they make I would care about at all. For sports fans, it would be a great thing to let some other developers have a shot at it and breath some new life into the genre.

      • RicardJulianti says:

All Nintendo really needs to do is make a MiiSports game. Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, all utilizing the gamepad in the ways EA would have if they gave a damn. Drawing up plays, asynchronous shootouts with the goalie on the gamepad (hockey and soccer, wiimotes for at least hockey), first person basketball shots with the pad. Seeing the Mii's do all of those things would be hysterical and it could possibly sell better than Madden/NHL/NBA….dunno about FIFA because that sells like crazy worlwide.

They would just have to give each game the full treatment….not like WiiSports. Love the game, just wish there was more of it. Teams based on Nintendo characters or locations (Zebes Pirates, Mushroom Kingdom Goombas, Hyrule Heroes, Mute City Racers, Dreamland Knights, etc) semi campaign like in Mario Tennis, add the Miiverse Tournament functionality and online. It could be phenomenal and could really take off with mature gamers, families and kids alike. I know I'd play the hell out of it.

If Nintendo were to revive 1080 Snowboarding, it would knock SSX on its ass. A new, difficult Pilotwings like the one on 64 using the gamepad for a cockpit view (idea stemmed from the Panorama View thing) would be awesome.

I really hope that EA comes crawling back when Nintendo has more units sold than PS4/720 combined….then Nintendo can either pull some old school Yamauchi rules on them or simply say "No."

        • koopzilla says:

I agree. When I play a game, I don't want it to be something that I can go outside and do for real. The few sports games I have enjoyed have some element of fantasy to them. Things like baseball, football, or basketball, I can easily go out and play and it's more fun.

  13. Aika says:

I love Mass effect series, but EA make me laugh about strong patnership with nintendo if there nothing happening lol.

  14. Furious Francis says:

They released Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U cause it was fast, less than 5 months dev time, then to kick Nintendo in the balls by having the complete trilogy on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for the same price….. yeah nobody bought the WIi U version. It was a sham

  15. RicardJulianti says:

Their second statement is completely nullified by the first. If you have a strong partnership with Nintendo, you would bring Madden to the system, plain and simple.

I have never bought a Madden game as the NFL doesn't really interest me. I have purchased around 2 NCAA football games….but they were exactly the same and after I finish 1 season…..I don't really see a point in doing it all over again. The last game I bought from EA was Mass Effect 3…more on that in a second. They dumb down the games in order to appeal to a wider audience and end up completely ruining what made the game popular in the first place.

Dragon Age 2 was shit compared to the first one, so I won't be picking up 3 even if they decided "Oh okay, we'll put it on Wii U". They completely ruined Mass Effect. The series had so much potential……but in 3 not one of your decisions mattered The choices you made were thrown in as filler and fan service almost.

Mass Effect was one of my favorite franchises ever, I have played through the first one at least 10 times. Natural choices, Paragon only, Renegade, New DLC = New Play through (so there's 2 more), New game Plus play through, New play through before 2, Paragon pre-2, Renegade pre-2, Pre-3, then a few difficulty increase play throughs at least.

I even would talk with my buddy and we would do "co-op" where we do the exact same things at the same time with the same choices, and wait for each other if one got through a shootout quicker. Did all of that in 2 as well. I bought ME3 and made sure to finish my current run of the first 2 before I even started.

I did all of that, easily spending more time on a game than I ever have before…..and I couldn't even bring myself to finish the final chapter. Somehow I have managed to avoid spoiling the controversial ending that got so many people worked up so that has nothing to do with my disappointment for the game.

I do ask that no one spoils it in a comment, in case I ever do decide to finish the game at some point.

EA is a bullshit company that lies right through it's teeth. Peter Moore basically boiled the argument that EA is the worst company in America (obviously not true when you look at the larger picture, but this is the internet. The Wild West were logic tends to go to die. I voted for EA several times because they will almost never have brought against them, the others will. They need to learn) down to Madden fanboys and homophobes. I am no homophobe (live and let live I say, but that's my opinion) and I don't like Madden….what now EA? He also claimed that the Sim City DRM was not DRM…..when pirates have proven that it is. Nothing goes on server side that can't be done locally.

They also said in June of last year that the Wii U is " the first next generation console coming out so we're really supporting it." and less than a year later claimed it wasn't next gen and they would be focusing their efforts elsewhere. ( http://metro.co.uk/2012/06/12/ea-promises-two-new… )

Strong partnership with Nintendo? Bitch, please.

    • Furious Francis says:

I am a huge Mass Effect fan as well. Three did some things good, but the ending sucked. The DLC endings fixed some things, but the damage was done.

EA is a trash company, from the top down. I hate to see people lose their jobs, but EA needs to go down hard. I would advice EA employees to start looking for work elsewhere.

      • Gryphonofmight says:

I hope that if they do go bankrupt and sell off assets, then Nintendo buys several of them as payback.

      • RicardJulianti says:

The combat was greatly refined, they added more RPG stuff (but not enough imo) but the voice acting I felt took a hit as did the writing. It felt like everything Shepard said was angry and all…macho man here to save the world herpaderpadur…..They just chuck your previous team in at random so they are in the game, but they don't really add anything. "Shepard I need your help……kthx here's some resources for the final battle….see ya later" Really? All of that time cultivating relationships in 1&2 for what boils down to a cameo appearance? No. Just no.

My friend and I have had LONG discussions about how EA messed it all up. It's funny though, because he is going to be working at EA in quality assurance in a few weeks. They will have him on FIFA mostly so as long as there is FIFA (and EA), he will have a job. Vancouver is almost an indie mecca and I feel like a bunch of studios have offices around there, so if EA does go under, it shouldn't be TOO terribly hard to find another job.

        • WSJ4L says:

He's working at EA? And with FIFA? Does that mean he can find out if FIFA is actually coming to the Wii U, and actually get evidence and/or testimonies about what happened between EA and Nintendo?

    • koopzilla says:

Yeah, it's painfully apparent that this is all over Origin. And even if they claim Wii U's not next gen, then why make PS3/360 versions? They could just easily port the PS3/360 version to Wii U (from what I have heard many developers say it is very easy). Even as a quick port, add in some gamepad stuff (which like I said before seems perfect for a football game) and it would probably be the best version of the game.

Hell, even with Mass Effect 3 they butchered sales themselves by announcing other consoles would get a complete trilogy game for less money. I don't even know why they bothered releasing it on Wii U. Maybe (as ridiculous as this sounds, but this is EA we're talking about) they did it so they could say "our games don't sell on Nintendo systems". That's a perfect cover up for "we are very butthurt over Nintendo not giving in to our outrageous Origins demands".

      • RicardJulianti says:

It was most likely because they had already announced ME3 as a Wii U launch title and it would have been much harder to sweep under the rug. So instead, they cannibalized sales with the trilogy and no DLC support.

If they had ever hinted at Crysis 3 on the Wii U, they would have had to publish it, but there wasn't even a rumor. Crytek even said they didn't have a business plan that involved Wii U, which leads me to believe that when they said there is a game using CryEngine 3 that is "from a respected developer that we will be announcing", they didn't mean Crysis.

EA is trying to "Dreamcast" the Wii U, but they didn't cause that console's demise Sega did, so that is never going to happen. Especially when companies (like Activision….who has sold more Post MW CoD's than every Madden or FIFA combined….on all consoles.) still support it and know about diminishing returns. You'd have to be a fool to be a developer and not know about diminishing returns really.

    • RicardJulianti says:

" I voted for EA several times because they will almost never have brought against them, the others will. They need to learn"

Should read as " I voted for EA several times because they will almost never have legal action* brought against them, the others will. They need to learn)

      proof reading fail.

  16. Gryphonofmight says:

EA wins the Oscar and the emmy for best acting in corporate PR Bullshit.

  17. Titan64 says:

“We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future.”

REALLY EA, REALLY? You expect us Gamers to be that fucking stupid? I feel bad for the employees who had to be laid off because of this stupidity but at this point, I would quit from that company. They lied about BF4 being on the Wii U, they become so butthurt after Nintendo RIGHTFULLY said no the origin bullshit, and now they cancel Madden and then lie to us gamers about it. You know what EA, I hope you burn in a fire but then again, that would be an insult to fire.

    • Furious Francis says:

EA thinks Nintendo fans are stupid. They think we don't know what went down. Screw them, seriously. Insulting our intelligence like that? Who the f*ck do they think they are?

  18. Rawbiz says:

Well everything's hitting the fan now, I really want Nintendo to turn this Wii U ship around which I believe they can, but I'll not buy any ea products for any system this generation. I remember back in Sega Genesis days ea did the same thing with S.Nintendo not receiving their Madden franchise. Nintendo pulled through then.

  19. koopzilla says:

I'm pasting a lot of this from a comment I made on another site to save time, but this is my feelings on this…

I personally don't care at all, I don't play sports games, and I don't buy games made by EA. But it sucks for Madden fans with a Wii U. EA is heading straight for worst company in America 3 years straight.

I'm convinced this is all over Origins. EA wanted Origins as the exclusive shop for the Wii U, seeing how dumb this was Nintendo shot them down. I'm sure EA has it in their head they they destroyed SEGA by not putting their games on Dreamcast because SEGA shot down their ridiculous demand of being the only company allowed to release sports games for the system. The fact is SEGA had already done it to themselves and was hurting pretty bad by that point. EA may think Nintendo is in a similar position from listening to all the doom stuff, and thinks Nintendo needs them to survive. This is a completely different situation, Nintendo had the best selling console and handheld of last generation (not coming off of a string of total failures like SEGA. They have turned the 3DS around and it's doing great, and Wii U has only been out 5 months and it can be turned around too. In fact I believe it will be soon, as soon as the big Nintendo games start coming out. This is only costing EA sales, rather than killing off Nintendo. EA seems to be the ones really hurting at the moment, Nintendo may not be doing great, but they are sitting on mountains of cash, and don't have the financial burden of releasing brand new consoles for the next 4 or 5 years.

I have heard as part of their NFL exclusivity agreement EA must release their Madden games on all platforms. I would laugh my ass off if this ends up costing EA their exclusive NFL license, I think it's about time someone else gets a crack at it anyway. This could actually be good for football game fans, Madden being the exclusive football game is probably really holding the advancement of football games back.

And like I said, I don't play Football games, but a football game seems a perfect fit.

“We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future.”

Yeah that's a laugh. Trying to save face while screwing Nintendo fans over I guess. It's even more insulting that they think we are that stupid not to see what's going on. I agree with you, they need to go bye bye like THQ.

    • Furious Francis says:

I was a hardcore Madden player at one point. On the PS2 version of Madden, I got in the top 1000. The Wii U Gamepad is a perfect fit for Madden. It's a shame EA is too damn stubborn to realize the potential. '

Screw EA, there a shitty company that takes us for fools.
