Iwata Implies he Might Resign if Business Doesn’t pick up

Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata has implied to investors that he might resign if he is unable to achieve 100 billion yen (US $1.09963 billion) in operating income for the next fiscal year. More details through the link.

Iwata has issued an apology to investors over the company seeing two years of consecutive losses. Saying he feels personally accountable for the results.

When asked how he would take responsibility if the goal is not met, Iwata emphasized his strong determination by saying, “Please understand that [achieving it] is my commitment.”

I personally have a major issues with Iwata resigning if Nintendo doesn’t meet these lofty goals. Nintendo is run by just one person. Its takes many people to be successful. Iwata is a great person and CEO. Nintendo just needs to get there games out. Once Smash Bros, Zelda, Mario Kart, and other games come out, Nintendo will be doing much better financially. Hopefully investors can see Iwata is great for the company and be patient as Nintendo develops their games.
