Japanese Media Create Charts: 3DS & Tomodachi rule Japan

Nintendo platforms once again dominate the Japanese sales charts, as the 3DS and Tomodachi Collection win the hardware and software battle.

Ten 3DS titles made the top twenty this week. Mario Kart 7 hit number 11 on the chart despite being over a year and a half old. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen debuted at a solid number 4, but the sales are fading.

Hardware wise, the 3DS is king again, selling over 50K. Vita sales are stalling a bit. The portable has one titles in the top 20 for software, and was outsold by the PS3. In Japan, handhelds usually sell more than consoles so that was surprising to see.

Wii U is still slugging along, selling nearly 8,000 units with no software in the top twenty.

"Mario Kart 7 hit number 11 on the chart despite going on eight years old."

    Huh?

This is great news! All hail the big N! Woo Hoo!

Wow! 3DS really dominated this week! A shame seeing the low Wii U sales. Pikmin 3 should help reverse this. I heard Miyamoto is releasing CG shorts on 3DS prior to launch. That should hype it up, considering how much the Japanese like using the 3DS!
