This is de reason, why I have still faith in the Wii U and in Nintendo.
The 3DS was exactly as "doomed" at the beginning as the Wii U is "doomed" now.
So everybody can imagine, how the Wii U is doing in a year from now.

(Sorry for my bad english. My native language is german)

    • Furious Francis says:

Your English is fine. And yes I agree with you, everybody doomed the 3DS, and now look at it. The same will happen for Wii U, you can count on it.

Wow as someone who wasn't too excited for a 3DS focused direct, I sure am happy now.

-Yoshi's Island – One of my favorite games as a kid, this is a day one buy. PUMPED!
-Link to the Past Remake – Another HUGE favorite, also a day one buy. PUMPED!
-Already decided I'd be getting Mario, and Luigi Dream Team.
-Donkey Kong 3D, Loved the Wii version, but I've always wanted that game on a portable. The lack of motion controls is also a plus.

In 3DS news alone I was happy, but we also got some great Wii U news.
-The much wanted system update is finally here, along with the virtual console! I can't wait to sink into that.
-I don't buy any DLC besides expansions. New Super Luigi U qualifies as that, so I'll be getting it.
-Never really followed Earthbound, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. So I'm getting it.

Only kinda meh news was that Pikmin 3 is so far away, but we have more than enough games coming to Nintendo systems in the mean time to keep me happy. It really is a good time to be a Nintendo fan, and with E3 around the corner. I don't know if ill be able to handle the financial trouble ill be in after getting all these games. Haha!

thanx for what u r doing guys all of u make this site as best as you can

  4. sergio111293 says:

Mario&Luigi Dream Team, Yoshi's Island 3DS, Bravely Default, Shin Megami Tensei IV, AND A Link To The Past Sequel!
Holy shit, this really is the best Handheld ever made! They should've just called it the Super Nintendo 3DS. XD
    EARTHBOUND!!! lol
I wished they would've talked more about the Wii U, but I think its pretty obvious that they're gonna stay quiet about it until E3 & they're getting all of the 3DS stuff out of the way so they have more time at the event. ;)
Regardless, this was one of the Best Nintendo Directs ever!

While it stinks that Pikmin 3 has been delayed all the way to friggin August 4, at least we know the date now. I still expect a Wii U Nintendo Direct next week or at least by the end of the month. W101 is still up in the air [listed as "Coming Soon" in the eShop], Wii Fit U and Mii Party "need" to be talked about, the investor meeting is on Wednesday and while the 3DS news is pretty big, they just released a new system that needs a lot of love. It's a bit frustrating, but I guess if they keep some VC titles rolling out (EARTHBOUND!!!) I'll be okay. Sales are still going to be crap if they don't have anything to release and investors will probably be getting antsy.

The Link to the Past sequel looks incredible. I really like the chalk drawing aspect but I do hope it isn't the main theme for the Wii U Zelda whenever that is out. The attention they are giving to the DKCR remake has me excited for WWHD. They seem to understand that people don't want just a straight port and add value to the new version.

Nothing against Animal Crossing, but that XL is ugly. I'm still going to have to wait until there is a 3DS color scheme I like or bite the bullet for Zelda. I don't get why NA hardly has any options (just "okay" ones imo) while Japan has just about every one you can think of. Maybe if NA had some more attractive choices, it would sell better over here.

That guy from the Nintendo Treehouse is a bit creepy…

    • Furious Francis says:

Nintendo is saving all of their big guns of E3 on Wii U. No need for investors to get worried. Nintendo needs to promote the game they have now on Wii U, which they did, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Lego City Undercover.

I think E3 is just going to be awesome from a games standpoint. It's going to have so much content. People are gong to rush out and buy Wii U's shortly after, btw, I read your article again. And damn that's a good piece. Just had to tell you again. Thanks you so much for your hard work man. I really appreciate it.

      • RicardJulianti says:

I agree that they are saving their big guns for E3 and I know I'll have plenty to play with the VC (I never had a SNES so that'll be awesome) and Monster Hunter, but investors will care far more about the sales numbers and financial statement than "What is Nintendo hiding?" It would also be easier to make trolls shut their faces if they had talked about W101 coming out before June (which I fully believe it will still) On the flip side, I don't exactly have Scrooge McDuck piles of cash lying around to buy a ton of games, so it works out. I just really want W101 already.

This is what I expect Nintendo's E3 to be like: http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/1056553/bullet-bi

Hopefully they are able to say "Available [insert ridiculously close date]" a lot. Much like they did with NSMB2……but better. WWHD in July, Pikmin in August, Something in September whether it is Yoshi or some surprise 3rd party title or MiiSports, Mario Kart in October, Mario in November, and Retro's title just in time for Xmas. Granted, that is very optimistic, but not entirely unrealistic. Iwata did say that they have unannounced titles that just might see a release this year.

Thanks, I have read it a few times myself, haha. I never expected it to reach nearly as many views as it has, it's completely mind boggling to me.

        • Furious Francis says:

I agree, a release date for The Wonderful 101 would have been nice. But at least we got Pikmin 3 and Game and Wario Dated. Pikimin 3 will move consoles. It's all about marketing, and I think Nintendo is going to have a great strategy for that game.

          • RicardJulianti says:

I like how Iwata said they would be talking more about the game over the next months….maybe info once a month? That will definitely get the hype ball rolling.

Reggie spoke to GamesIndustry.biz about all of the announcement stuff. 3DS game sales have surpassed 20 million in the US alone apparently. Sales being up 55%….and the pace of games it going to "ramp up dramatically" over the next 9 months.

He also talked about the Wii U, "What I would say about Wii U – and what Mr. Iwata has said – is that the pace of launches has been slower than we hoped. But as we prepare for E3, the pace of launches for Wii U is going to dramatically increase."

Notice the wording there….not "Soon after E3" or "Later this year" or even "We have a large amount of stuff planned for E3"….but "As we prepare for E3" there will be a dramatic increase in launches.

            Hmmmm

  6. rickmodus says:

Ow my Goodnes!!!! Oldskool link to the past Zelda 3ds, bravely default. cant wait to get my hands on both of these. The Wiiu is shaping up nicely, no single regret purchasing this console._With square enix onboard the 3ds it would be hilarious the release date for FFversus 13 would be a Wiiu exclusive LoL =D

  7. matthewbmatthew1 says:

I just watched the UK and Europe Nintendo Direct presentation and the game that I'm looking forward to the most is Mario Golf: World Tour, as I've still got a lot of fond memories of playing Mario Golf 64. The Legend of Zelda on the 3DS looks excellent too – so many good games but not enough money to buy them all. :-|

    • Furious Francis says:

Just what I was thinking. There are so many games, there is no way I can buy all this. The Zelda game looks really good. I want that now!

      Mario Golf is always fun.

  8. donzaloog says:

This Direct was amazing. Earthbound finally comes to the West. A Link to the Past sequel. And so much more!

  9. koopzilla says:

It's only a Virtual Console game, and it may be a bold statement, but I believe Earthbound will sell systems. We are getting GBA games too, why not Mother 3 as well?

I have some of the VC games announced, I hope the upgrade from the Wii VC games for $1 or whatever also goes into effect that day.

I was very pleased with this ND, and I wasn't really expecting much out of it.

    • Furious Francis says:

Yeah, Earthbound was big. But I think the Wii U update was big news as well. It's adding a ton of features that makes the system far more attractive. And the games are coming at just the right time. I was upset there was still no release date for Pikmin 3 or The Wonderful 101. However, Bravery Default coming over from Square Enix & Nintendo was cool. Maybe Nintendo can get Final Fantasy Versus on the Wii U as well.

      • koopzilla says:

I heard August 4th for Pikmin 3, much later than I wanted, but I'm still very excited, it's my most wanted Wii U game in the forseeable future.

Yeah the updates are a great thing too, I've been waiting for that.

Bravely default, a sequel to my favorite Zelda, A Link To the Past, Mario&Luigi 4 news, Animal Crossing, theres a ton of stuff I'm really excited for. Oh, and Mario Golf, I don't play sports games, but that's the one I just can't get enough of. This makes me really excited for E3. To think with all this great stuff, that they must be waiting for the really big stuff til E3, it's gonna be epic.

        • Furious Francis says:

August 4th for Pikmin 3? That's later than expected but makes sense. At least we don't have to wait till the fall. But the game should come out in May.

Miyamoto likes his games perfect though… so we have to wait till it's done. The flying Pikmin looks really cool.

      • AndrewKV says:

NoA's Twitter just announced August 4 as Pikmin's launch date.
