3DS Nintendo Wii U 23

Sonic Lost World runs in Native 720p Upscaled to 1080p on Wii U, 3DS Version runs at 30fps

Tilmen from Nintendomination has confirmed to Playeressence that Sonic Lost World on Wii U runs in native 720p, upscaled to 1080 at 60fps. The 3DS version runs in 30fps.

Here is the exact quote from Tilmen on Sonic Lost World for the Wii U and 3DS.

“(Wii U) game runs in 720p with 60 fps. Upscaled to 1080p. 3DS version runs with 30fps. The cut scenes video compressions on 3DS are very bad and they look even worse with 3D ON. Ingame graphics are awesome ^o^….especially on WiiU :D”

This is what I was expecting. To keep 60fps, 720p is probably the better option. It seems like the 3DS version is suffering a bit from compression, but still manages to look good. From the footage Tilmen posts on Nintendomination, Sonic Lost World looks fantastic on Wii U, imagine how good it will look on your TV. The best part is that its locked in 60fps. Smooth framerates are essential to the Sonic gameplay formula.

Sonic Lost World launches on October 18th in Europe. North America gets the game on October 29th.

  • After a short hiatus from PlayStation models following an certainly ill-fated exclusivity screen on Nintendo devices, Sonic the Hedgehog looks set to sprint onto a PlayStation four close to you in 2015. A signal apparently on display at last week’s Nuremberg Toy Fair shapes a roadmap for SEGA’s simplest collection, and signifies that an unannounced name is in the works for Sony’s next systems machine.

OK. I guess imma be eating that crow…

And I know, the game still looks wonderful. After all, I did play it hands-on and couldn’t notice the difference.

why are posts being removed censorship is for nwo faggots

the very fact people need to ASK is it 1080p only proves its IRRELEVANT if you need to ask then clearly your eyes dont frigging know do they SO MY POINT IS STOP THE IRELEVENT BS

example mario kart 8 looks AMAZING so people are calling it 1080p the fact its the graphics and art that are amazing seems un processable to these cretins minds wen its revealed to be 720p people will suddenly claim its NOT GOOD LOOKING

theres some mentally deranged people on this planet if we need to keep asking this pointless question DOESNT THAT PROVE IT IRRELEVANT

DerpShock, you have to calm your ton and stop writing in caps if you want your post to not get reported

  • JTurner82

I don't see much difference between the two versions graphically.

    • Furious Francis

The Wii U version looks way better. YouTube is nice to low resolution games.

      • JTurner82

Funny, I could've sworn both 3DS and WiiU were on par. I guess I wasn't watching it correctly. Oh well, nice to know that Sega's taking WiiU seriously.

  • AaronBren

Early impressions (around E3) seemed to be saying the 3DS version was better than the Wii U version; perhaps the Wii U version has improved more lately. It's really looking like the Sonic game that does the character and concept justice.

  • TwinTails

Well, they say there is no apples and oranges difference between native 720p and unscaled 1080p.

  • hardin25

Like SM3DW, it looks better than what it's said to be. And where's our demo?

  • 720p native upscaled to 1080p looks way better then 720p native. That's why most multi plats looked better on xbox 360 then they did on ps3. Smart move Sega/Nintendo. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

  • ryuken13

Still getting this on 3ds like portable experience for games like this..

  • timg57867

I expected the game to run 720p native. What I didn't expect was the 3DS version only doing 30FPS. Yeah, the Wii U version will definitely get the most sales. I'll buy the Wii U version first and wait for the 3DS version to drop in price.

Like I said before, content and gameplay comes first before resolutions; i’m still getting this game, regardless. ^_^

  • Mark

As I always say, performance over resolution is always better; man, locked at 60 fps, that's amazing!

  • ZainreFang

I take issue with the pop-ins in the game. Objects in the distance don't even fade into the screen. They just "pop in". So it's pretty weird to see all that and the game isn't even 1080p. Sure, it's 60FPS but i'm pretty sure you won't be seeing that many pop ins in Super Mario 3D World. Crazy.

I'm still picking up this game day one.

You have to remember, Tokyo EAD is the premier first party developer… Srga hasn't had that level of quality for a loooooooooooooong time, if ever.

    • Mythosa

I haven't noticed it. Must be paying too much attention to the stuff close up. Was watching for it, but kept getting pulled back to sonic lol

  • Matthew Wesley

I bet we're going to hear some people bitch about it being upscaled….

  • Ednice

Will the Sonic "fans" hate on this one as well

    • crocodileman94

Of course they will. It's an exclusive, after all.

  • Titan64

Gives no fucks, Still want game badly…

  • Anonymoose

Can't wait to get this game on October 29th. 😀
