Sony Controller Patent Shows a Hybrid DualShock/Move Controller that Breaks Apart
Next generation is going to have a lot of different controller inputs if Sony and Nintendo has anything to say about it. Sony has just patented a hybrid DualShock controller which breaks apart into a Move motion controller that attaches to it.
This type of controller was first patented in 2008, but this new patent was filed in May 2011. The patent was just published by Free Patents Online yesterday, where TSA quickly found it.
The “Hybrid Separable Motion Controller” schematics show a controller which snaps together and contains a magnetometer, accelerometer, and an embedded speaker.
The PS Eye camera would also be needed to operate this controller. Check out this PDF file for more information.
This would be cool if Sony released this with the PS4. Controllers are going to be radically different from how they are now.
