Splinter Cell Blacklist Performance Comparison – PS3/Xbox360/Wii U

Splinter Cell Blacklist com

Lens of Truth has compared all three consoles version of Splinter Cell Blacklist to see which version performs the best. Hit the link to find out.

“In the end we feel the overall better experience belongs to the Wii U. Although, the load times were much longer on the Wii U and the PlayStation 3 textures were slightly more detailed throughout, we still feel that due to the superior performance of the Wii U version not having any screen tearing and texture resolution almost on par with the PlayStation 3, the overall better experience was on the Wii U. Below are the videos for the Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 analysis.”

Check out the comparisons and pictures here.

Ok I see… So if that's the case, it was a straight port/No visual optimizations right?

  • Nintendo Power

OOoooh! Do you mean that's why the 360 version on the video looks worse? I see what you mean now my bad! Yeah that's a real possibility. Apart from the video I haven't had the opportunity to see it on 360.

    • RicardJulianti

Yeah, they didn't install the textures that would have brought it more in line with PS3/Wii U………so it's possible they didn't install the Day 1 patch on the Wii U version.

If they didn't, it would explain why you saw the better textures in the Wii U version compared to the PS3 version, while theirs weren't quite as good.

Ubisoft has done a lot of stupid things (see: Delaying Rayman Legends), but one thing we got to give them credit for is taking the time to make great multiplats. May just consider buying Rayman Legends before it goes "bargain bin".

I have a feeling the extra loading will be used a a big deal in a review which is actually not issue.

  • Nintendo Power

The Ps3 textures are higher resolution? No… why did he say that? I mean my brother is a sony fan and he has it on Ps3. I hooked his ps3 up to my LED beauty, and made sure the settings were the same for both the Ps3 and WiiU. Needless to say the WiiU version was much better, very noticeable. The textures were higher rez on WiiU. There was even textures on the WiiU that didn't show up on the Ps3, including things that were just blacked out on Ps3. Oh well. Im still happy to see the WiiU coming out on top regardless. This was just my personal experience with it.

Some1 downvoted my last comment? Lol! wow. Some1 is Hatin.

Was there a day 1 patch for the Wii U version when you started it up?

      • bigchad

Yes there was, it was 46MB.

      • Nintendo Force

        Yeah…

        • RicardJulianti

That could account for the difference you're seeing. In the H2H they were testing the game "out of the box" which is why the 360 version looks just….not good. The second disc includes an HD texture pack and it never prompted them to install it, so they didn't….and if they didn't do the day 1 patch, it's possible that's why they said the textures were off.

          • RicardJulianti

That's what I mean though. They tested it on 360 without the same textures that the PS3/Wii U version have so it came out the worst….and it's possible that the Day 1 Wii U update did some texture stuff to make the textures more "hi rez"…..so that would explain the difference in what you are seeing and what they tested.

To be fair I highly doubt Ubisoft even used the Wii U to its full potential in this port too. Even though it came out on top I reckon much more could have been done.

    • Furious Francis

True, no way they used the Wii U to its highest potential

  • bigchad

Blacklist on wii U is a fantastic game. The campaign is really good and plays smooth. The online is having problems on all versions ATM, but i’m sure it will get patched up. This game is definitely worth looking into.

  • RODJOH

In before Nintendo haters that "God forbid someone says something nice about a Wii U game".

    • Furious Francis

      Seriously

  • ThorTempest

I heard from people on Miiverse saying the exact same thing about Splinter Cell Blacklist on Wii U having better graphics, and less screen tearing than the other console versions of the game. There is no doubt about it. The Wii U version of Splinter Cell: Blacklist is the definitive version.

    • Furious Francis

Which it should be, the only thing that needs to be addressed is the loading issues. I don't think Ubisoft had the time to use the eDRAM sections or they could have gotten those load times quicker.

I know RMC from GoNintendo was complaining about the load times on the Wii U version.

      • bigchad

Yeah the loading are a little long between missions. But I don’t mind an extra 30 seconds between a 30-60 min seamless mission. Its not really that big of a deal imo.

      • Hardensoul72

but isn't the loading times due to the games needing to be install for ps360 versions vs Wiiu needs to read from disk?

  • Twinkie

Why is the 360 version so dark?

    • Dusklurker

It just is. Most games show as very dark on the 360. I'm not sure why they don't try to gamma correct this stuff when comparing, but that's just the default.

    • sparkticle

To cover up the 'worse textures'. 😛

Well, the damage control warriors are going to be out tonight.
