    Bit off-topic
Gonna look forward to see how you tear into the latest rant by Pachter. Arguing that nobody owns a Vita because it's "too good" is almost a new low for him. Almost. But yeah, he finally acknowledged the success of the 3DS

Man, I wish developers would just cure themselves of the "CoD syndrome".

You are totally correct about this whole "new IP" talk. A new IP doesn't always mean a new game experience and this is what actually is important in games. Miyamoto recently said in an interview, that he tries to create new "gameplay Ips" instead of just new characters. Which is actual a good strategy in my opinion. But on the other hand a new IP could also "free" a developer in creating new ideas which wouldn't work or feel honest with their old franchises in terms of characters and game worlds. An IP has certain "rules" of portraying their characters, the way the game world works and is represented. Like Nintendo would make a game like Amnesia or Journey and put Mario, Yoshi or Link in it. Of course it could work but I think this would be really wierd and could feel strange.

And about First Person Shooters a really funny quote by gamedesigner and author ("Rules of play") Eric Zimmerann:
"AAA first-person shooters are the hair metal of games: awkward, generic, & over-produced. Years from now we'll wonder what the appeal was."

All these CoD wannabe shooters is one of the main problems in gaming right now. Another big one is many major publishers are becoming complete sell-outs. Too many greedy men in suits these days.
