Why do Naruto and DBZ games Suck?
Summer is pretty slow for good games so recently I have went to my back log of Anime games… and its not pretty. So, I decided to write this lovely article on how they suck and what they can do to fix it.
Anime and Manga are forms of entertainment that millions of people enjoy daily. Whether its watching Naruto online or playing video games Anime has had a huge impact on the gaming industry for years now. One of the main problems with anime based games is… they suck! Don’t get me wrong there have been a few anime-based games that were ok. But the large majority of anime games are rushed, unbalanced, sloppy messes. For this article we will take the two most popular anime franchises in America.
Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is a game that does half of the necessary things to be a great game. I played the hell out of NSUNS 2 getting all the achievements so I had plenty of time to figure out what was good and bad. NSUNS 2 has a great original score, fantastic graphics, and true to the source material content. But, where things fall apart is the multiplayer and balance of the game. To be a great fighting game you have to have balance and good skill based controls. Naruto has none of this. Some Characters like Deidara just press one button all match to attack. Cyber Connect2 needs to look at other fighting games on the market like Tekken and Blazeblue to get some new ideas for their franchise. Or even taking a page out of Clash of Ninja Revolutions book to formulate more advanced combos and skill based fighting. NSUNS 2 did a good job of taking their time between the first game and sequel but more time could have been used to flesh out the combat. Adding a chakara bar that has a set amount according to the character would also be great addition to mix up the gameplay. In all of the Naruto games players pretty much have a unlimited supply, all you have to do is charge it. There needs to be a change if we will ever have a truly great Naruto game.
DragonBallZ is probably the biggest culprit of making crappy anime fighters this generation. The camera in Raging Blast is so bad I couldn’t believe they even released the game the way it was. The gameplay has been the same for years now following the same mash, mash, mash, Hold down to charge then smack them button controls for years now. What the developers of this crap need to do is vary it up. Use different button combos in conjunction with the teleporting and transformations to add depth to the game. Pressing square, square, square, square, then hold and release is not good gameplay. It’s just mundane and boring. DragonBallZ also needs to lay off having so many damn characters. They should just have a solid amount like Tekken and make sure to balance those characters? At this point if you want to see all the characters go watch DragonBall, DragonBall Z, and GT. Most DragonBallZ fans want fantastic not 10 million characters. With so many characters in these DBZ games they don’t take the time to fully flesh out all of the characters making many of them feel the same and boring to use.
What do you guys think about Anime games? Favorites? Disagree? Put it in the comments below!

They just need to forget about making fighting games altogether. They need to make an open world RPG for both Naruto and DBZ.
Another thing they can do which would work best for Naruto is make MMORPG. Imagine all the customization you could do to character.
this is definitely a troll article lol. both storm games were good. but the 3d dbz games blow. just looking for site hits.
Once you get past the look of Ninja storm and get down to the substance of the game. You too will realize that the game just sucks.
These types of games are catered more towards fan service which explains why the emphasis in story modes are obvious than just the multi-player itself.
PULVERIZING DOUCHE!!!!
Ure right ive looked at scores of fighting games and the ONLY ones that were really any good were the MUGEN games only for dbz though naruto mugen sucks
I agree. The first storm game was basically an all around god game. Granted it did have its faults. Those faults however were corrected in the second sotrm game, but storm 2 had faults of its own (ie short ougis, inability to start matches in awakened mode, limited jutsu options etc.). Then storm generations came out with the same faults as storm 2, in addition to even more faults (ie, that stupid subsituton bar). And now sotrm 3 in on its way and its not looking all that much better. It sucks cause Naruto is so freaking awesome, I just wish they would develop a game that would serve it justice.
Yeah, Naruto can definitely become a great game with the potential it has. Chakra charging should go in favor of a set amount and dipping into maybe the life bar when it runs out. This would instantly add more depth to the game by adding strategy. That charge button could become another type of attack button in which now you could add more complicated combos to the game as well. Also, if they did tiny things like tweak the way the characters move and their speed, that would be great as well. Imagine playing with the speed of Rock Lee vs. Gaara who practically doesn't move in battle. This little change would go a long way towards making the game even better. With that said, the iterations it has now is playable (and I will play UNS3), but they leave more to be desired from those of us that watch the anime/manga and see the speed of Naruto with the Nine-Tails chakra, the overwhelming power/chakra of Kisame, the brilliance of Shikamaru (the fight against Hidan), and the dominance of the Sharingan. And oh…for God's sake, please have more than one jutsu and one ultimate jutsu per character.
