Nintendo Wii U 5

E3 2013: Mario Galaxy 3 – Features I want to see

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are some of the best games ever made on any console. The blend of pinpoint jumping controls, fantastic level design, and challenging missions, made the Galaxy series of Mario games my favorite. Here is what I want for the next Mario Galaxy game on the Wii U.

Fantastic Art Design & Graphics

Mario Galaxy 2 looked amazing on the standard definition Wii hardware. Having a fully capable high definition system to work with, Nintendo can go all out with the graphics and art design with Mario Galaxy 3. I would love to see how hard Nintendo pushes the Wii U with Mario Galaxy, because they made the most out of the Wii’s hardware with Mario Galaxy 1 & 2.

Full Gamepad Integration Without Being Gimmicky

Nintendo needs to use the Gamepad in innovative ways, however, it can’t tread on the gimmicky side. In Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, the Wiimote sometimes handled the mini-games sloppily. They were more than playable, but it would have been nice to have better controls. My hope is Nintendo will use the touch screen to enhance the gameplay of the mini games, while providing new experiences you can only do on the Wii U Gamepad.

If Nintendo decided to use both screens to blast Mario back and forth between Galaxy’s….. that would be awesome! Imagine hopping in a blast star. Shooting from your Tv screen to the Wii U tablet screen to secret worlds. The inclusion of puzzles and challenges take place on the Wii U Gamepad only would be a welcomed addition as well. That way, touch controls can be implemented into solving the challenges and puzzles, without having to look back and forth between the Wii U Gamepad and TV.

I agree with koopzilla that we won't be getting Galaxy 3. Nintendo really only releases sequels now in such a manner if they didn't get all of their ideas in the first game. No doubt the game will be phenomenal…I even loved Sunshine though it was a bit weird and VERY different.

I'm thinking it will be called Super Mario Universe. It would be pretty different, but could still be pretty awesome. Possibly an open-world Mushroom Kingdom and there would be alternate "Universes" a la Quantum Conundrum. 8-Bit, Dark/X-Ray/Sound, Yarn, Paint, maybe Paper, (big maybe) First Person, etc.

You would gain access to the different Universes as the game progresses like the abilities in Paper Mario, hats in 64, or FLUDD Nozzles in Sunshine. The gamepad would display the alternate view for puzzles and certain platforming elements while the main screen would remain in the regular style. There is the possibility of swapping the views on the fly, but I'm not sure about that. They could do something along the lines of the other Mario titles with disconnected worlds with different themes, but I'm not entirely sure how the gamepad would be implemented there.

Of course, this is just my own rambling on what I would like to see. They could do something completely different, but the game will be gorgeous and loads of fun….possibly topping Galaxy. If anyone can do it, it's Nintendo.

I agree, I think Nintendo is going to go in a different direction, I wrote this article a long time ago, and figured Mario Galaxy 3 would be a launch title.

I can't wait to see what will easily be the biggest Mario game we've ever had!

I can't wait for the next 3D Mario Game. Super Mario is my all time favorite franchise and they are always excellent. I can still remember the first time I ever played Super Mario Bros. (or a Nintendo for that matter) at my Aunts house, I was completely blown away, my Atari couldn't even compare, it's been my favorite franchise ever since. It will be interesting to see what they use the Gamepad for. I don't think we will get an actual Mario Galaxy 3 though, as they like to change things up. I kind of want something more like Super Mario 64 this time around, with more exploration involved. No matter what we get, It's sure to be an incredible game.

Yeah, I love the 3D Mario Games more than the 2D ones. The world is just more fun to me. This new Mario game for the WIi U will define the Wii U gamepad and Wii U graphics.
