I usually don’t post gaming news related to the iPhone and Android, but this one is a must. The full game of XCOM Enemy Unknown is coming to the iPad and iPhone, with all the content you would expect from the console release.
The news first broke at PAX East panel for Firaxis Games.
“All the tactical, strategic gameplay that you have experienced on the PC and consoles has now been optimized for iOS devices,” Jake Solomon said. However, there will be fewer battle maps than the console version.
The iPad and iPhone versions of the game will feature touch controls that could actually be good in this game, considering it’s a strategy based game with no control over the camera. Multiplayer is still on the dark, as well as cross saves between the console and iOS versions.
The port should be hitting this summer with DLC in tact. Pricing has not been announced yet as there still deciding on what features and or advertising will be in the game.
“It’s going to be priced appropriately for what it is. It’s going to be a premium price point. It is the game. It is the full game,” Solomon told Joystiq. There is no Android version planned at the moment, but Firaxis is not ruling it out.
