I really liked this review, I liked how you state the positives and the negatives without sugarcoating anything. Really well done.

Lucky for me i only paid $40 for Splatoon but then again the cheapest amiibos here are $17( got the squid one bundled with the game which makes it $60) and i almost forgot free online.

Nice vids by both AGL and Zyro. Zyro’s comments about content are interesting but considering that the updates will be free I am wondering if this is Nintendo’s DRM policy going forward.

It is also interesting if this is going to be how they will be producing big games going forward. Release the game with limited modules to hit release dates then update for free to ensure quality standards are met.

Also if the game sales are not meeting expectations than those updates could be scaled back reducing development loss.

    Interesting strategy…

Every time I have kids who say stupid stuff like that to me, I’m just like “Oh honey, you have a lot of growing up to do.” and it’s usually kids who know me well so they can’t really argue to me about being grown up and what not since I’m known for being very wise and understanding, despite behaving like a giant kid, haha.

Ya know… I’m sad and sort of ashamed to say it, but I haven’t even played the game since I purchased/preordered it during the first test fire. It’s not that I don’t want to, but I have been so crazy busy with work and doing extra courses, helping friends move, buying a new motorbike, among other things that this has been put to the wayside. There are the times like now where I could be playing it, but I’m actually quite exhausted, so much so that the idea of playing seems like too much work lol.
Is the amount of content as bad as he says?

Eh, I remember playing the heck out of Counter-Strike, and that didn’t really have that many modes and all anyone ever played was dust. The weapon selection is nice and diverse, and each map is pretty distinct.

Single player is a lot of fun, but it could use some more meat on it’s bones. I don’t even mind that it’s short, but simple stuff like hard mode, time attack, and special challenges like limited ink use, or maximum ink coverage, maybe get through certain levels without splatting any Octopi I think could have helped it.

As far as the number of modes, yes it’s not that great for right now.

Call of Duty? Call of Duty?!?! http://media.giphy.com/media/11ypleUHGAqob6/giphy.gif Everything else said seems fine.

…I thought you were going to break out into Whitney Houston there for a second.

Yeah, I may have come off extreme in my love of Splatoon sometimes. Just a little bit. But, just that seemingly simple mechanic of turning to a squid and swimming through ink you shoot is just so satisfying to me and implemented in some fun and interesting ways. That core gameplay is really good, so I can overlook lack of content, whereas a lot of other modern games, I feel the core gameplay is lacking, which make me not care how much extra stuff it has.

        • Titangamecube

Thats true. I feel that there is a huge disconnect in modern games with actual content and the core gameplay.

Don’t be like that, Call of Duty has its appeal. How else would it sell the way it does, eh? ;D

      • Agt_Pendergast

It’s just one of those games that make me feel like I’m an alien from another planet. I mean, I don’t mind the violent realistic games per se, but CoD, I don’t get it. I also don’t understand why people would want it year, after year. After year.

Actually I think COD has been dumbed down for the kiddies. I remember in COD 4 and World At War you could get hit with grenades and you’d lose limbs. I don’t remember heads blowing up, but that could have been a thing lol. Now you get hit with a grenade and you bleed a little and ragdoll across the map.
