Hey PE faithful! Just wanted to say happy 4th of July and to be safe out there when lighting fireworks. There might be some posts today, but not much is going on. Make sure to check out some of my latest videos on E3 if you haven’t already done so.
User dizzle521 has uploaded the only know “Nintendo PlayStation” out in the wild. Check out the video below.
I always knew Suda 51 was a visionary, but this is taking it a bit far! In a new interview with GameReactor, Suda 51 says joked that No More Heroes probably won’t happen within the next “15 to 25 years”.
“Yeah, No More Heroes 3, I get a lot of requests from fans and I’m very grateful for that, but I’m thinking it may happen within 15 years or so? (laughs). Maybe not through Kickstarter, but GungHo would of course be supportive if that were to happen.
I think I have the vision that Travis forgot something, so I really have to have him to go back and get back what he has forgotten. But yeah, I definitely want to make it possible, but I also want to create something new, so maybe within 15 to 25 years (laughs)!”
“There’s been a lot of discussion on my channel and not a lot of games, but don’t worry, reviews galore are coming!… Until then, maybe a little talk on this whole “angry gamer” thing might be in order!”
Comcept has just released a teaser trailer for a game titled “Red Ash”. Many are speculating that this is a spiritual successor to Mega Man Legends.
A post in the Mighty No. 9 KickStarter page says:
Now what in the world could this be…?
Well…whatever it is, we decided to give our backers a special first look at it!
If you want to know more, you are all just going to have to wait until Independence Day to find out!
We can’t say anything more until then, but we think you get the idea. Please share this video with all your friends, and help spread the word!
We should here more about Red Ash at the anime Expo this weekend. Inafune-san will be holding a panel saying that he has a special announcement that “may interest Mega Man fans.”
The biggest “FIGHTING GAME” tournament in the world, EVO, has put together the early numbers for contestants per game. Ultra Street Fighter 4 leads with 2,227 entries. However, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Melee are hot on Street Fighter’s tail with 1,926 and 1,869 contestants respectively.
As a side note, I’ll probably be competing at EVO 2016, as I’ve started to win most of my local tournaments in Smash Wii U. I’m going to take on the Los Angeles area this summer, so hopefully I can continue to get better. Full numbers below.
SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida, has stated that fans helped keep The Last Guardian alive.
“If everyone stopped asking about it, probably we would have [cancelled it],” Yoshida told Edge magazine.
“Tech issues aside, the game was still early in development, so we had to have a really strong desire to continue the project and rebuild on PS4. And of course we believed in the vision of Ueda-san, and Ueda-san and the core teams really wanted to see this realised, and so did I. Having so many people asking us about the game was great encouragement for us to continue the development,” he added.
The Last Guardian is set for a 2016 release on PS4.

Fire Emblem Fates was the top game sold in this week’s Media Create Charts, and it wasn’t even close. The amazing strategy RPG sold around 303,000 units, not counting digital, potentially making it the biggest opening in Fire Emblem history. On the hardware side, the Nintendo 3DS was the top system sold with 32,355 units sold.
Splatoon continued to hold strong, with another 37,458 units sold. That makes a grand total of 348,040 not counting digital. Persona 4 Dancing All Night had a strong debut with 94,036 units. That boosted PS Vita unit sales to 23,134 for the week. Get the full software and hardware charts below.

Developer From Software has proudly announced that the Dark Souls franchise has sold more than eight million copies worldwide. These sales numbers include: Dark Souls, Dark Souls II and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. And impressive has these numbers are, they don’t include Demon Souls or Bloodborne, which are considered “spiritual” links to the Dark Souls franchise. Sony will have exclusive DLC for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 this fall on PS3 and PS4. This deal actually went through due to the partnership Sony had with Activision with Destiny.
“Well, I think the first thing was we’ve had a great relationship with Activision around Destiny and I’m a huge fan of that,” said PlayStation VP of Publisher & Developer Relations, Adam Boyes.
Boyes had the opportunity to play Call of Duty: Black Ops III in person and he “fell in love” with the game instantly, and things went from there.
“As soon as I started playing it, I said, ‘This feels incredible! You can wallride!’ It’s just so smooth; it’s almost like poetic. And so obviously, we just continued talking with our partners at Activision and worked something out. And now we’ve got I think a great benefit to all the gamers,” he added.

Star Ocean 5 isn’t Coming to the West on PS3, Last-gen Market has “Diminished to Nothing”, says Square Enix
Star Ocean 5 will be hitting the PS3 and PS4 in Japan this fall. However, the west will only get the PS4 version due to the diminishing business of last-gen consoles outside of Japan. Star Ocean 5 producer Shuichi Kobayashi explained this decision in a new interview with Destructoid.
“It’s simple. The PS3 still has a fairly large market in Japan, but in the West, particularly the United States, people have just moved on to PS4. The PS3 market has almost diminished to nothing.”
I have to agree with Kobayashi-san. PS3 console and game sales are almost non-existent in the US. The PS4 is still selling like crazy here. While in Japan, the PS3 still has new games and a dedicated base of users who primarily game on PS3. The PS4 has yet to take off in Japan. So this makes complete sense. What do you guys think?
The largest video game chain in Japan, Tsutaya, has posted their sales charts for the past week. Fire Emblem Fates dominated the sales charts, taking the first, second and third place. The third spot was occupied by the exclusive New 3DS bundle for Fire Emblem Fates. You can see the full sales charts here.

Mr. Red Fox has come to enlighten me on the business side of the video game industry. In this “debate/discussion” we’ll be talking about Splatoon, voice chat, budgets and probably all sorts of stuff stemming from these topics. This discussion is being done in the interest of our users, and I have zero ill will toward Mr. Rex Fox, his opinions and the such. If we have time at the end, we’ll answer questions.
