Deep Silver Fires Developer Yager from Dead Island 2

deadisland2banner

Deep Silver has announced that it has decided to drop developer Yager Development from Dead Island 2. That means the title has no current developer working on it. Yager worked on Spec Ops: The Line a few years back.

Below is the full statement from Deep Silver:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

It looks like Dead Island 2 won’t be coming out anytime soon.

Looks likes this game *clears throat, throws shades on* is stuck on a dead island. Yeah.

    This is truly sad.

Holy crap, that is a rare occurrence. For such a big title that’s already been publicly announced and in development for the time it’s been, to kick the developer to the curb now?

And a fairly respected one at that, lots of people liked The Line. Gotta say this seems like a Deep Silver issue, given that the creators and previous devs of DI Techland wanted to get out of there too. Crazy.
