  1. Jon Turner says:

And when Zelda WWHD hits here in physical form….

the numbers will simply put be miles better than the modest Japanese debut.

    • Mythosa says:

I'm surprised it didn't do better in Japan to be honest. Although, I have no idea how well the gamecube did in Japan, but maybe most of them played the original. I know loads of people that missed out on it on the gamecube here in Canada so it's likely more enticing to people like me that missed it.

      • Jon Turner says:

Because it was an HD remake, and HD remakes really don't sell in Japan. Still, the sales it receives here will take the sting out of it.

      • Furious Francis says:

Remakes don't sell that well in Japan, the Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection worse, and that was cheaper and had far more games packed on it.

      • timg57867 says:

Also, Zelda isn't as popular in Japan as many think. For instance, although between the Wii and GCN, Twilight Princess is the best selling Zelda, it's combined Japanese sales aren't even over 700k. I think this concerns big 3D Zelda's in particular.

      • DePapier says:

Well… Japan is also waiting for their October 31st Wii Party U and Wii Fit U Wii U bundles, and they just got reminded of them during the last Nintendo Direct. That could count.

I think October 31st is when the Wii U's Japanese domination will effectively start.

      • NinjaHound says:

Zelda was never that popular in Japan. which is pretty ironic since it was going to be a Japan exclusive franchise
During the first 2 days MH4 with 1.71 million in retail outsold every single entry in the Legend of Zelda series in Japan
The best selling Zelda over there is Zelda 1 followed by Zelda 2, the minish cap is probably the third best selling zelda but i'm not sure
So expecting large numbers was a bit unrealistic since for example Majora's mask didn't cross 300K over there

        • Jon Turner says:

It didn't? I thought MAJORA'S MASK managed 600k in Japan. I know SKYWARD SWORD barely hit 330k, but I didn't think MM did 300k. Or am I misremembering something? Either way, this will be a hit here in America.

          • NinjaHound says:

Sorry it was a mistake, MM and The four swords were listed above each other on the website and i copied The four swords sales instead of MM
            Oops :(
one more thing i missed is that Phantom hour glass is the best selling handheld Zelda not the Minish Cap

This is the beginning of the wiiu turn around in the west :)

    • Jon Turner says:

Except many people are believing now that it is going to crash because DKTF was delayed.

      • scottsensei says:

To be honest I support the DKTF delay. This allows for breathing room in the release lineup and guaranteed early 2014 games not download only titles. I also have a running theory this was more done on purpose to give 3rd parties ANOTHER chance. Let Rayman Legends get some more air, give more space to Arkham and Black Flag, that sort of thing.

        • Jon Turner says:

Rayman Legends, maybe. But Arkham and Black Flag's sales won't be as good as those of the PS3/360 ones. Although to be fair, I don't see either doing any better on PS4/XBox One either, so… Nintendo MIGHT have the advantage here. But I do think that with more units sold, third parties will be back.

  3. Matthew Wesley says:

All of this speculation is moot. In about two weeks, Nintendo's Pokemon X and Y comes out… and Monster Hunter 3 will probably be forgotten.

  4. frankie4fingers83 says:

I just downloaded my copy at 1am. My gf wanted me to get it on my bday and it was officially my bday, so we downloaded it.

Man its soooo much more beautiful playing it, then watching any trailer
