Nintendo Starting Pilot Productions on Nintendo NX in October for 2016 Launch - Rumor

nintendo-nx1-656x369

An article in the DigiTimes has stated that Nintendo is set to launch their next console, codenamed the NX, in July of 2016. The console will be manufactured by Foxconn Electronics, while Pegatron Technology will be trying to receive some of the orders. Apparently, the orders are set to be complete around February or March of 2016, with major production starting in May/June for a July launch. They’re looking to ship 20 million units in the first year….. which is just a little bit over the 2 million the Wii U has shipped this year (sarcasm). Remember, this is a rumor, but it does seem we could be seeing a 2016 launch for the NX with software coming to Wii U AND NX. Via: GoNintendo, Source: DigitTimes

July 2016 release???? LOLOLOLOL!!! So Nintendo is going to officially unveil, detail, and release a new platform, all within the first 7 months of 2016…?!? 7 months!!! Think about how quickly Nintendo would have to do things. Formal unveil in January, More details at E3 (June) and major production starting in the same month (June), Released just one month later …. yeeeeaaaahhhh no. Pretty much the definition of disaster right here.

Also, 20 million units sold in a year??? LOLOLOLOLOL again!!! Only Wii was able to pull off such an achievement. Trust me, no gaming platform will ever sell as much as Wii hardware/software did during its first 2 years on the market. Even if NX was a handheld, Nintendo wouldn’t be able to sell that much during the first 12 months unless it was dirt cheap (<$100…back to Nintendo's money-losing years).

Okay. I get it. Nintendo had a bad E3 2015. I'll be the first to admit that to anyone who asks. But believing any rumor that is thrown is ridiculous. Keep expectations low for now, until the time is right. When a rumor from a not-so-trustworthy source (Google "Digitimes Apple rumors") states that NX will be a (currently unannounced) July 2016 (12 months away) product that will sell 20 million units in a mere 12 months, something is wrong.

This is fake. Why would Nintendo launch a system in the summer?

About those 20 million units: it makes me think that the NX could be a phone. those numbers are not very rare for this type of Hardware, and I think they are using the same company that makes the iPhones. perhaps NX is a phone and with an Special hub, like the Apple TV can do the stream to The TV and have that “home console” too

It will be dedicated gaming hardware. It won’t be a phone.

“Apparently, the orders are set to be complete around February or March of 2016, with major production starting in May/June for a July launch.” I’m not believe that, where in the hell do these “sources come from? It’s Just like PS4/Xbox One disaster launch imminent sources.

Now if it was a handheld, it would be more believable.
But this is stupider than the “leak”

This article is more fake than Pamela Anderson’s implants.

20 million units in the first year? Yeah this is fake

Yeah. If this leak is real, then the people who made this sales prediction must be high or stupid or both. But it can’t be true. 5 million sales seems like a more reasonable prediction, especially as a lot of people will probably wait for big AAA titles, and to see if 3rd party support suddenly drops off and game droughts occur. Still, on the bright side, if the NX sells terribly in the UK, then I’ll be able to bag the console for about half price after just 4 months, like I did with the Wii U.

I’ve seen articles like this over the years of other manufacturers doing this or doing in a certain time frame without good authority. Personally, I’m not believing this unless Nintendo themselves say so. I don’t know why, but get the feeling RTUSA is going to make a video about this sort of thing knowing how he jumps to conclusions a vast majority of the times.
