Nintendo Looking to Surprise with the NX, Doesn’t mark the end of Wii U/3DS Games

Nintendo___Wallpaper_by_fiDumppi

Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata has discussed the surprising customers with the Nintendo NX. However, with the NX’s arrival, Iwata says that doesn’t mark the end of Wii U/3DS games.

As I mentioned earlier, I cannot speak about the details of NX today. If I mention every detail of what we are newly thinking, it could be persuasive but it could also give other companies the opportunity to come up with counterplans or implement the ideas that they find interesting. There may also be the possibility that it will spoil the sense of surprise for consumers. Of course these factors are all against the interest of the entire company and they would ultimately harm the interest of our shareholders, so we appreciate your understanding in this respect.

Regarding your concern about what will happen to Wii U or what will happen to Nintendo 3DS, NX is a new platform, so the installed base will have to be built up from zero. When NX is launched, there already will be a certain volume of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U hardware widely existing in the market, so from a software business perspective, it would be highly inefficient to stop releasing titles for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U right after the launch of NX.

Therefore, while we are preparing NX for the future, we are discussing within our internal development teams as well as with the second-party developers we co-develop software with and also with third-party software publishers about how to continue creating software for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. So, I believe that your point of concern should not happen immediately. As for Wii U, we will continue to make efforts, as it is a priority within the company to think about how we can satisfy the consumers who purchased this system to the maximum extent possible.

Iwata is practically confirming that those ” Fusion ” rumors to be true, I mean just check out the key words ” Nintendo 3DS or Wii U “. It’s becoming more apparent now

First party games on NX, Wii U, and 3DS are all developed by Nintendo. Since Nintendo has to do much of the work alone, the development of NX software will almost certainly impact the development of Wii and 3DS software, regardless of whether NX is a handheld, console, both, or neither.

Gotta let go of the “Fusion” rumor for a while. Far too little evidence exists to suggest such a concept. Nothing in this comment suggests such a thing.

Here is a much more meaningful quote, from Reggie.

“In the home console space, we’re focused on Wii U. NX is in the future. That’s something that we’ll talk about at the appropriate time. But right now, it’s all about driving our Wii U business.”

Sounds like a good enough plan since Sony and Microsoft is still supporting their
last gen consoles. I still wish Nintendo the best of luck.

With the hard work they’ve done so far for Super Smash Bros. IV, Splatoon, and Mario Kart 8 which people are still playing, I doubt it’ll be the end of Wii U games when the NX is out. I predict it’ll work with Wii U games or these games I listed will get labeled for NX for new buyers that’ll still work on the Wii U. There’s not going to a Super Smash Bros. NX or a Mario Kart NX.

give me a gaming tablet with detatchable nunchucks

each nunchuck is a left and right hand gaming mouse config’d with d-pad buttons anolog sticks triggers LIKE A PAD SLIT IN HALF and put 9 axis gyro into each pod/chuck with mouse pointing like wii remote

this detatchable dual controller can then be used on the tv in DOCKED mode

wii remote plus nunchuck and pro pad ROLLED INTO ONE SUPER CONTROLLER

COMMON FLAMING SENSE A DO IT ALL GAMERS CONTROLLER

pro pads gamepads and wii remotes remain compatable

pro pad 2 has gyro 9 axis built in

i feel everyday nintnedo is confirming what the NX might be i mean look how they say “wiiu and 3ds” how would just a console end the production of both wiiiu and 3ds so maybe this is a fusion console able to play handheld and console games

See? That’s why I don’t understand these crystal ball predictions people have been doing lately.

Why mention the 3DS? This is confusing.

    • Hidden Flare

like I said in my comment, this may be further proof of that fusion rumor… Possibly

      • Hardin Twentyfive

        I think so as well.

Because first party games on NX, Wii U, and 3DS are all developed by Nintendo. Shareholders were concerned that the production of NX software would hurt the development of Wii U and 3DS software, and Iwata merely stated that Wii U and 3DS software would still exist after NX’s launch.

Gotta let go of the “Fusion” rumor for a while. WAY too little evidence present to suggest such a concept.

Even if the NX in’t a replacement for the WiiU, it still will take away resources from it. Also if the WiiU is indeed esentially getting replaced by next year, making the WiiU a 4 year old, under-performing console, Nintendo is gonna have a hell of a challenge convincing people to get it. The WiiU has burned a lot of people, I don’t know if Nintendo plans to honor their pledge of not moving on until WiiU owners are satisfied but that is beside the point. What Nintendo really needs to do is make sure that 3rd parties cannot blow them off, make it so they have no excuses to not support Nintendo, make it competetive with Sony/Microsoft, but keep your Nintendo charm, invest in games for your adult fans, M rated games, blood and gore, RPG’s, FPS’s, etc, with the Nintendo spin. With proper 3rd party support I think we could see Nintendo return to its glory days

    • NGX159 (KhAnime G)

I mean every console this generation has burned people somewhat. Don’t put all the blame on Nintendo now. Sony/Microsoft has relied on remasters both in house and third parties, the day one patches, broken games, and let’s not forget the two online services getting hacked.

  • Hidden Flare

Well its cool that they will support the past console generation like sony and microsoft did. I hope they keep unique games for the wii u like ones that use the gamepad or the 3ds gets its own type of games before the next generation…….

Also why mention both handheld and console for the next system, the fusion rumor may be true…

  • uPadWatcher

I hope the Wii U and 3DS bounce back this year and in the next few years until they bow before NX… their newest big brother.
