Some Clarification on my “RARE’s Back” Interview

Just wanted to give some clarification on my RARE’s back interview. Many seemed to think I was saying that RARE is back to how they were in the 90’s and early 2000s with Nintendo. However, if you watched the interview I had, that is not what I said or Chris Davies from RARE said. What I said, and what Davies said, is that RARE is back to making games the core gamer can be excited about.

We never implied RARE is back to the level they were in the 90s, and in the interview with Davies, he acknowledged that they want to get back to the core elements of what made RARE great. So RARE Replay is a celebration of their past, while Sea of Thieves is a celebration of the future, moving forward as a studio. Sea of Thieves is not a Kinect, motion control, or gimmicky VR/Hololens game. It’s a new IP, centered around what core gamers like. So to sum things up, RARE is “back” to releasing games the core gamers can care about, or get excited for. That was the gist of the interview. I understand RARE Replay is just a collection of old games, but there are a lot of cool things they have done, like snapshot challenges, online leaderboards and more. And let’s be honest, as core gamers, RARE Replay looks a lot better than Kinect Sports or something, same goes for Sea of Thieves.

On a side note, I’ve seen some concerns from some individuals that I am “pushing” a narrative, or forcing my opinion on people. Which is 100% false. I always talk with my users, and you guys are allowed to agree or disagree with me freely. However, if you don’t want me to talk to you guys in the comments section, please let me know and I will stop. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

    To answer that second to last sentence Francis: It’s your site so you have all the right to say what you want in the comments. People may not agree with it and may argue with you, but I feel that a Mod shouldn’t have to ask for the approval to post comments, especially if it’s their site.

    Francis, I used use this site under the name of Nintimdo
    I never stopped coming here for news, but I stopped commenting for the most part because things usually turned into a circlejerk.
    The comments section was littered with total Nintendo fanboys (Whom I was among for a long time, sadly) and/or trolls and it just started to suck. Worst of all people who were saying really dumb things that seemed ‘pro nintendo’ were getting all these ‘likes’, irrespective of the the quality/coherence of what they were saying.
    - But anyway, I never stopped coming because _you_ actually provide good news and content!
    Nevermind what some fanboy lunatic says in your comments section because you wrote some crticism of Nintendo.

    Francis I don’t get you some times. Right now, the Nintendo community is in a mess and disorganized state so if I was you I wouldn’t pay attention to them at this time.

    While I don’t think RARE will ever be like they were before, these 2 games could be a new beginning for them. That’s always a possibility.

    OMG. This should not be necessary.
    People get over your hate of different companies. Francis is fully entitled to his opinion, as is anyone else, and if includes more than is in your little bubble then deal with it.
    Rare is back in the fact that they are actually making more than Kinect games. That is something to be happy about, not pissed off about. Come on people, lighten up!

    not sure why Nintendo fans get so butt hurt when ever they see a title that involves RARE, some people are still harbouring shit that happen 2 gens ago. Let it go, if you decided theres nothing RARE can do to ever get you to take them seriously anymore than move on, if you want Banjo then support Playtonic, theres still a huge fanbase and following of Rare on twitter who are very supportive and use words of encouragement to get the company back into good spirits to boost moral too. We don’t need your negativity ruining things for people who’re actually looking foward to their next crazy project. Hush and play with your amiibo toys.

      I am here to defend the so called fans that you suppose are butt hurt. Them having a divergent opinion is not them being butt hurt. You are talking about video game players that have been their when RARE was RARE. Then the made Banjo Kazooie racing lol. See how confusing and knee jerk inducing that was? There is a time for everything under the sun. It is time for fans to vent, you cannot take away that right from them. We shall support Playtonic with their new project, and if the new rare Microsoft makes that pirate game good, we shall buy it one year later when it is ten dollars.

          I am done getting games brand new. I played project steam, good gosh. Alan Wake the sub-sequel. Max Payne 3, no more, I am reading Agatha Christie novels. No more being misled by Giant Corporations at my own choosing. Zelda WiiU I am buying brand new though.

            I dunno about any of the examples you gave besides project steam.
            And I wait for reviews to see if there are issues with a game, like there were with Master Chief Collection.

            This has been a great year for games for me though. I’ve gotten 3 games, and one of them I think is a 10/10, and the other 2 are either 9’s or 10’s. They are Ori, Splatoon, and Witcher 3
