More Hints AMD is Powering the Nintendo NX’s Processor
While nothing is confirmed at this time, evidence is building that AMD will power the Nintendo NX’s processor. Here are some tidbits from a VentureBeat article on the matter.
- AMD has won a third semi-custom chip design
- the promise of these chip designs is that they could yield products that could generate a billion dollars in sales
- AMD would have to enable a way for the new console to use software translation in order to run older Wii and Wii U games
The following comes from Patrick Moorhead, an analyst with Moor Insights & Strategy
- “I think it’s a very high probability (of AMD pairing with Nintendo) unless Nintendo goes Android where I would expect them to go with Nvidia.”

Pokken Tournament - Vote for the next Support Pokémon you want to see
Bandai Namco is allowing fans to vote for the next support characters they want to see in Pokken Tournament. A full list of Pokémon names in Japanese can be found here, the campaign ends on July 23rd. Via: Nintendo Everything
Pokken Tournament isn’t Tekken with Pokemon, says Harada
Although it’s fairly easy to see, Tekken and Pokken Tournament producer Katsuhiro Harada, has explained that Pokken Tournament is not Tekken with Pokemon in it. The battle system was carefully crafted with Pokemon fans in mind. And the game is not made to be more accessible than a standard Tekken game.
“It’s a solid versus game, but at its core, it’s an action game for Pokémon fans. People might think that because we’ve worked on games like Tekken and Soul Calibur or because of the name ‘Pokkén,’ that this game is made for established fighting game players, but I’d like to come straight out and say ‘no, it isn’t.’”
“The tech to make the game and the knowhow behind the massive amount of animations comes from our experience working on the games we’ve made before, but with the gameplay, we’ve set our sights on Pokémon fans.”
“Having the camera looking at the characters facing each other from the side with their stamina bars on the top left and right of the screen is an established fighting game format, but that’s something that experienced fighting game players can understand on instinct.” Harada explained. “That might give Pokémon fans the impression that the game is harder than it is, so we’ve intentionally gotten rid of that. Newcomers should especially focus on blocking.”

Want Baten Kaitos on Wii U or Nintendo NX? Let Bandai Namco Know
In an Siliconera interview with Kensuke Tsukanaka, the director of Project X Zone 2, he hinted at the possibility of Baten Kaitos coming back if fans ask for it.
“Are fans ever going to see Baten Kaitos again, inside or outside of Project X Zone?” I asked Tsukanaka. He laughed, and responded:
“So, do you remember that KOS-MOS and T-elos, from Xenosaga, were in the first Project X Zone game? We didn’t include them just because Monolith Soft was developing Project X Zone, we put them in there because there were so many fans of their games on the team, and that they happened to make sense for the world of the game.
“The reason there’s not Baten Kaitos characters in the story is because they just didn’t seem to fit in anywhere. As for [Baten Kaitos] itself outside of Project X Zone, well, I can’t really say much about that yet, but I think we need some substantial feedback from fans before moving forward with a project like that. What do they want to see from it? What platform do they want to see it on? If we can gather more voices for Baten Kaitos, then maybe we can start something with Bandai Namco Entertainment. That’s about all I can say right now!”
Monolith Soft, along with tri-Crescendo, produced the Baten Kaitos games on GameCube. If there is another one in the franchise, chances are it comes to a Nintendo Platform exclusively.

Reggie Fils-Aime Comments on Satoru Iwata’s Passing
Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime has commented on Satoru Iwata’s passing.
“Mr. Iwata is gone, but it will be years before his impact on both Nintendo and the full video game industry will be fully appreciated. He was a strong leader for our company, and his attributes were clear to most everyone: Intelligence, creativity, curiosity and sense of humor. But for those of us fortunate enough to work closely with him, what will be remembered most were his mentorship and, especially, his friendship. He was a wonderful man. He always challenged us to push forward…to try the new…to upset paradigms—and most of all, to engage, excite and endear our fans. That work will continue uninterrupted.”

Could Nintendo Launch the Nintendo NX Successfully in July? - Nintendo Enthusiast
Our friends over at Nintendo Enthusiast have posted an interesting article, discussing the possibility of Nintendo launching their next system in July compared to the holiday seasons. If you don’t like NX/sales talk, please ignore this article. Check out a few snippets below.
“If Nintendo sees 60% of its sales in the fall, it may seem at first glance that the holiday season would be the ideal time to launch a product. If we dig deeper, however, this may not necessarily be so true. Perhaps the reason why the holiday is so successful is because of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Nintendo’s biggest games (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Super Smash Bros) tend to launch in the holiday, so of course it makes sense that during this period of the year sales are far higher than during the spring or summer months.”
“A great example of this is Mario Kart 8, which launched in May, and is the highest-selling Wii U game to date. Fire Emblem Awakening and Bravely Default, both February launches, performed very well in the States. It seems like games tend to sell based on the property and quality, rather than their launch month. If a console were to launch during non-holiday season, it is more than likely that a good price and appealing product could sell more than enough consoles.”
“Nintendo has stated that it would share more information on the Nintendo NX next year, but did not say specify whether we would see this initial information at E3 or beforehand. With Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem seemingly being the only 2016 release for the Wii U, Nintendo could absolutely announce the NX officially at an event in February, then continue to slowly release information on the console leading up to E3 (through Nintendo Directs and small press-releases). Then, with a massive showing at E3 2016, the company could surely launch the NX in late July or early August.”

Nintendo Starting Pilot Productions on Nintendo NX in October for 2016 Launch - Rumor
An article in the DigiTimes has stated that Nintendo is set to launch their next console, codenamed the NX, in July of 2016. The console will be manufactured by Foxconn Electronics, while Pegatron Technology will be trying to receive some of the orders. Apparently, the orders are set to be complete around February or March of 2016, with major production starting in May/June for a July launch. They’re looking to ship 20 million units in the first year….. which is just a little bit over the 2 million the Wii U has shipped this year (sarcasm). Remember, this is a rumor, but it does seem we could be seeing a 2016 launch for the NX with software coming to Wii U AND NX. Via: GoNintendo, Source: DigitTimes
